I knew I was spending a lot of time on aircraft, but when I saw it like this it shocked me.

Need 2000 SC's to get LTG. Just wondering how much flying others are doing

Reggie

That's pretty huge. My calendar YTD is pretty low as I banned travel for me from 10 Dec to 17 March. Mind you if I had put all my travel to QF I would only have been on about 2100 SCs...

This year's travel has just been confirmed at minimum 125K miles flown - that would generate roughly 2120 SCs - and that's without maximising the DONE4's I have this year (1 in progress at 36K miles and 2 planned later in the year)

Good work though on those SCs

so 6 more months to LTG - congrats

my totals are much less, only 3400 SCs so far this member year, but then I fly a lot more on *A than OW

KiwiFlyer, I knew you flew a hell of alot, I remember you had significant QF SC's but did most of your flying on *A. This coming year will involve less travel (hopefully) and will probably mean LTG will be in Jan 08 (DONE4) to USA for a conference.

Simongr, the DONE4's can maximise SC's, but I didin't have the time or inclination to do all the extra flights. However I did fly to LHR then CDG to maximise my chances of and upgrade (which I received), then lots of flying in first in the US can really get your SC's up

Last October, I had 2555 SC's expire and the year before, 1500. Thats' 4K in two years. However, in 10 years of flying before I found AFF/FT I had ~3800 LTSC's. (This doesn't include the more than 200 flights I took from Dec 1994 until September 1998 at which time Tier Credits were introduced. :-| )

..and my friends think I fly a lot!

I'm a QP member, I doubt it is worth doing a SC run to get me over the line to Silver (I'll probably come close, but not get to 350).

Don't bother if it means you have to pay in time and money just to get to silver. The only added benefit of Silver is the extra 10kgs at check in.

My biggest year was 3600 SCs. That took me past LTG so I have no idea what my current total would be. But since then, its all going to AA. I just use the QF points to upgrade the QF flights whenever I can.

4430 is an impressive amount of flying.

Not quite. Business class checkin is more than worth it.

I don't know what I would pay for it but waiting over 3 hours in the economy checkin queue at BKK airport and then finding out the aircraft was going to be 3 hours late....

Priceless....

I must admit, especially for international flights, business class checkin is very much worth it. Domestic can be hit and miss - many times I found that it would have been quicker if I had been in the economy queue.

Anyway, my SCs for the last 10 months is just over 1400 -all earned in domestic discount economy bar around 10 FlexiSavers and one international (discount economy). It has been a pretty painful year!:lol:

Expired 31-Jul-06 1,990
YTD 1,100

Primary earner 19-segment DONE4 split over both yrs,
couple of J SYD-AKLs, and a few Y SYD-MEL, SYD-BNE runs

Nothing upcoming, so have a J SYD-CNB same-plane return booked just in case ;) Don't think non-FF members would understand.

Qantas fly J to Coonamble?

(I suspect you mean CBR)

Hmm - just recal'd my SCs if I book this year to QF - 3830 SCs (slight problem with my spreadsheet )...

4,430 SC's so far in any membership year is a serious amount of travel in any class of travel. Your 3rd home is a metal tube...

My worst membership year was 1 Mar 2002 to 28 Feb 03 with 2,400 SC's (1 RTW in F, the rest in disc whY) and I never wanted to do that level of flying again.

Flying has included 2 RTW in J, 3 trips across the ditch, and numerous flights to wonderful tourist places like ZNE, PBO(TPR), KGI and ISA and a few to DBO. I have also flown on Skywest but that does help the SC earn.

I'm in the same situation as Matt_r, aside from my current planned travel i will need about 15 more SC's in this qualifying period (31 Jul) to get Silver but as a QC member don't we get Business class checkin (if theres no QC one) and extra 10kgs baggage or is this only with QF and the privilege not extended to other OW carriers? Thats why i was questioning myself whether it was worth manipulating my plans to make the cut. Any advice welcome - i'm still learning

As a QC Silver, or QC member, then you are entitled to Business class checkin.

As far as I am aware the 10kgs extra baggage allowance is only valid with QF operated flights with a QF flight #. Priority baggage handling & allowances.

Correct, and BA may or may not honour it, and if BA doesn't then nobody else will.

But OP is a QP member therefore this is no added benefit.
