What are my options?

Hi all,

I’ll be travelling from Melbourne to Toronto in mid October. I had originally planned to use my Qantas point, however I think I am now too late to get an award seat.

I’ve checked the Qantas website frequently over the past few weeks and have noticed the available flights haven’t changed for my dates.

Does anyone know if award seats open up closer to the departure date? am I now best to just book a normal ticket or will this also potentially be discounted closer to the departure date?

I’m kicking myself because I have plenty of points, but it seems like I can’t use them for this trip.

If you break down the route to something like Melbourne to Los Angeles, and then Los Angeles to Toronto, some options are still available, albeit in economy and not all direct.
