Jacket update. I talked about the jacket issue with my butler yesterday (yes my butler) and at lunchtime when I came back from today’s excursion, there was a jacket on my bed, unrequested.

It would be rude to turn up such a nice gesture, so I’m currently sitting in the bar with the jacket.

This is too laissez-faire. Men should be instructed to wear highly polished black leather shoes as well.
But MrsK relates the warnings they were given before school dances (hers was an all-girls school) to watch out when dancing with young men, as if they had very shiny shoes, as they would try 'see' things in the reflections :)

What are those nice nibblies you ordered for Jacket? They look really nice. Is the second one an arancini?

Nightly canapés at 6 pm brought around the various bars and decks. Yes a little arancini but the others I couldn’t really recall but they are very nice

Separately, on the cruise issue (jackets and other attire), why book a cruise if you the dress policy isn’t what you’re happy with?
Me?

Why would you book any cruise on the basis of the dress code on a couple of nights? Seriously.

I chiefly book a cruise based on the destinations it’s visiting, then on the cost and then on the perceived quality of the cruise.

Given the cruise line can’t coherently express what the bloody dress code is in the first place. I feel quite relaxed in not liking it, whatever it is.

BTW I managed to shanghai the communications director or whatever he’s called today. I showed him the wording of the dress code I posted up thread and ask him to explain how it would operate. He couldn’t.

We did a Cunard cruise. It had the same dress policy. But it stated a jacket was required in all public areas after 6pm, except for hallways and the Kings Buffet.

Reading the policy you posted it seems similar.

A lot of people don’t book Cunard because they don’t like the dress code… even for their short two day cruises ex Syd, or other parts of the world.

Exactly, but it’s not! Not even the people on board knows what the bloody policy actually means.

At some stage, I’ll look up what it says on the actual cruise description.

I’m prettyconservative. If there’s a rule, I’ll follow it but ya gotta tell me what the rule is before I follow it.

And if there is some vague requirement for a jacket or a tuxedo at some ill defined times during a cruise, and I’m travelling around the world, sorry it ain’t gonna be packed and I’ll ‘wear’ the consequences. 😊
