I'm surprised that no-one has confessed to having an in-flight hand-shandy.

Errr.... not that I have either, of course.

Is that my phone ringing ??? - Best be off now.

Cheers,

AC

What on earth is a "handy-shandy"?

I'm just wondering what sort of response I would get if I ask the stewardess for one?

Okay, I think I get it. I've been in the U.S. too long.
In the U.S. its called joining the "solo mile high club"

Anyway long flights have got nothing on looong train journeys! Anyone done the Trans-Siberian? Here's what you see:

trees [loop]
4 days later
plains [loop]
2 days later
Moscow...

Here's what you do:
Vodka
Sleep
Repeat

How bad are these united FA's?
Actual experiences?
I only travel Y class so I don't expect much
but they sound like the Wicked Witch of the West/East.

I recall the Qantas FA's in Y class at the
start of the flight being quite good.
But towards the end got quite cranky
and by the time they were serving breakfast
were not to be messed with. Understandable,
I presume they work a few hours before
the 15 hour flight from LAX-SYD. But the UA
attends sound like they are always grumpy.

Gosh, I remember it well that on the QF LAX-SYD flight
they used to serve three full meals and everyone
counted on having them and didn't bring any
food on board. One year they changed
to 2 full meals only and of course didn't advertise
it. By the end of the flight there were 250+ grumpy hungry
passengers and very grumpy FA's. People take
food seriously, and one guy (this was before 9/11)
half jokingly was openly talking about hijacking the plane and
making a force landing in AKL. The FA's tried to booze
everyone up, but it didn't work all the time, but I had
a lovely third meal of quite a few Baileys and Milk.

Hmmmm......
