Something I've noticed recently is that many fares that include connections to/from NZ have disappeared from the Qantas website.

The problem is worst on routes departing NZ for Australia, connections are no longer sold but are still available as an award seat. An example of this includes AKL-BNE where on most days the only option that appears is the direct AKL-BNE flight however there are possible connects via Sydney (some of which even show as award seats but aren't bookable via cash fares):

It's even stranger with MEL-CHC as they simply won't sell a cash fare on some days:

The following routes seem to be problematic: AKL-SYD, AKL-BNE, AKL-MEL, CHC-MEL, CHC-SYD, CHC-BNE, ZQN-SYD.

Flights in and out of Wellington, AKL-OOL and other ZQN flights to MEL and BNE aren't impacted and show normally. The problem also doesn't seem to be occurring on routes from AU to NZ however these seem to be a bit more expensive than normal which makes me think that the system is pricing the domestic flight and trans tasman flight under two separate fares hence the more expensive price?

This has to be some kind of mistake with fare loaded incorrectly or is this some new plan to force people onto the days/routes that QF operates direct?

It seems many QF fare routing to/from NZ don't allow connections. So in practice the price should be the sum of 2 fares. Awards have different rules.

As pointed out in this thread it seems even more changes have occurred further impacting flights from NZ.

On bookings, originating in New Zealand fares have slightly increased in price however the big catch is that the domestic flight in Australia is now booked in Economy.

and no it's not a problem with the flight being sold out in business as some options have award seats with both legs in business.

It seems to be an issue with only tickets originating in New Zealand as searches with tickets originating in Australia are about the same price but with both flights in Business.
