Hello Everyone! :)

Question for all flyers. Sorry if this has already been answered. I did some searching and couldn't find though.

I fly to the USA (East Coast) from Australia (Perth) every year sometimes more, my family is there. It is a longgggggg flight. Last year I flew Perth-Brisbane, Qantas Econ, then Brisbane-Taiwan China Airlines Business., then Taiwan to JFK Business, with a short stop in Alaska for fuel. It was a long journey with a huge layover in Taiwan. However it was WONDERFUL. Having never flown business before it was AWESOME. And we didn't care how long it took us to get there as it was a nice journey. The ticket was $2,200.00 AUD with taxes from Brisbane to New York! Great deal.

Anyways I am trying to find a cheap, maybe never that cheap again, business ticket from AUS to New York or California. I don't care about the routing, time of year or layover times?

If you have any suggestions on a cheap routing for business class or an airline that offers good business class deals would be appreciated so much. Thanks for your time.

In recent times, it seems that Delta has had the best pricing for business class. but as always it varies depending on the sales and date of departure.

Another cheap option can be to use JQ star Class to HNL and then AA or another US domestic carrier with a YUP or equivalent fare to book into domestic first class to your USA destination.

Im flying from PER to JFK on Boxing Day. Cheapest I could find was on the American Airlines Australian website - PER-NRT-JFK-LAX (stopover) - NRT-PER. $7000 business, which should also get me QF gold.

Saying that, the PER-NRT and NRT-PER is on a 767 (no bed - just the old 'recliners') and AA J is a slope bed.

Let me know how you go - I might use some of your ideas :P

Starting from Singapore, OZ,AF and AA all have fares at approx $4500 plus taxes to JFK

Just need to get a flight to Singapore

If you are more adventurous and can get to Colombo, DL has a fare ex CMB to JFK for $3050 plus tax. 1st class on BA or AA for $4644 plus taxes

MH PER-CMB o/w in economy is $433 plus tax
UL CMB-PER o/w in business clas is $1276 plus tax
To do PER via CMB in business class ( other than for PER-CMB at the start ) would be $4759 plus taxes

I have heard Air Canada has some good specials and you can avoid LAX!!!!!

Entry is via Vancouver and if enroute to NYC then via Toronto.

Good service on new 777-200ER's by all accounts.

Cheers

QF have had a Business Sale on for r/t tickets originating in the US.
Last night booked LAX-SYD-LAX for about $US2K each way - outstanding value, especially as the flights are on the A380 each way.

Currently China Eastern is the cheapest Biz Class fare on the market at $4514 plus taxes ex East Coast to New York.

JAL is also a good option at $6245 plus taxes East Coast to NY, though if you keep an eye out, Qantas often have sale fares around that figure.

That China Eastern fare is common rated to LA, so you're not going to save anything by flying into LA instead of NY, as its also the cheapest fare to LA currently.

If you are looking at LAX, look at air Pacific ex NAN, get the QF J special at $649 each way ex BNE then book with FJ NAN-LAX in J at 5136 FJD all in, which is $3K AUD or $4200 when combined with the QF special ex Aus.

DL at ~$4600 would be easier direct (and better product).

Haven't checked prices in a while, but oneworld have a Circle Pacific option, which involves stops in Australia, Asia and North America in one direction, which are usually cheaper than standard business class fares (but not as cheap as discounted business fares).

points/sc earn!

Points/SCs are not the be all and end all to travel. Flying on DL can collect DL miles without any problems. With a difference of $4100 plus tax vs $7000 plus tax ... I would say that 18.75 - 33k QF miles is nowhere close to being worth $2900

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you can't book a fare originating from an overseas city (eg LAX) when you actually travel from say SYD.
So if you originate from SYD, you have to book SYD-LAX-SYD. If you try to book LAX-SYD-LAX (which may be cheaper), it won't let you.

But say if you can, when you check in at SYD to commence the journey, does the check in staff know that you have bought LAX-SYD-LAX fares, and won't allow you to check in ?

Obviously if you try to book LAX-SYD-LAX, I presume you have to log into the airline's US website to do it.

That's true - when I book ex USA flights I book from the airlines USA portal and pay un USD.

If you are flexible with the dates, Nan/Lax/Nan can be bought for FJD4,732 or ~AUD2,548. Add in the QF special Syd/Nan/Syd and the total is AUD3,197.
