Hi All,

Looking for some inspiration! :D Bear with me here.

I have to be in Chicago for a conference 5th-8th June 2012.

I have booked a FASA SYD-LAX for the 29th May (155k points).

Any ideas on what to spend a week doing. I did a fair bit of California in September, never been to the East Coast, South, Central USA.

My thoughts were;
Fly LAX > SFO, maybe a day or 2 in SFO, then Fly SFO > DFW. 4 or 5 days to drive from Dallas to Chicago for the conference checking out the sites along the way 9 and overdose on American BBQ!)

4 days in Chicago for conference.

On the 8th Jun, fly ORD > JFK (or whichever in NY), 3 days in NY.

2 weeks away now..

Then to get home to PER, probably with SQ on points in business...

Probably do the SQ all business A345 EWR > SIN > PER
or perhaps EWR > NRT ( 2day stopover) > SIN > PER
or FRA stopover...
but I reckon I'll want to be heading home by then... so more than likely most direct, but could be inspired.

I will be travelling solo :(, no real need to acquire SC's in the US, but I will still book YUPP... Have a pretty healthy point balance with both QF and SQ.

Any other idea's or inspiration...my only commitments for the trip thus far is the FASA SYD-LAX 29 May and I have to be in Chicago for conference 5-8 June.

Thanks!

Pete

So you fly to the US after the confrence? Or is the confrence in July?

New York, Las Vegas and/ or San Francisco are my favourites but trying all three could be too much at airports in a week.

Agree with cove. I love Boston. If you've done California before, maybe go to SFO couple of days there, then fly to BOS and onto ORD for the conference. Might just be me but I wouldn't drive in that tight time-frame from 29th to 5th to get to ORD. Spend a few days post conference in NYC then home.

and as per Princess Fiona,

perhaps I do New York/Boston/East coast before the conference... and exit via ORD > LAX > SIN > PER, Give the DFW > Chicago road trip a miss - would be better with a travelling partner later I think..

Sounds like a plan. If you are really creative and up for it there's a nice lucrative YUPP or two in there as well :D

Depends what you like doing i suppose, if theme parks and all aren't really your thing, then i guess no point going to Orlando, although Cape Canaveral is close by... If its winter here and you not interested in catching a few rays and doing some swimming i guess Miami isn't a priority... Boston is quite historic, lot of history from the American Revolution there... Dallas has history in terms of assassination of JFK.. I do like Washington DC for history, museums, monuments and also a lot of the area around Virginia is also very historic, etc... New York obviously has a lot to do...
