I have about a month left before 14,982 Emirates miles of mine expire.

Looking at the Emirate's High Street, there are a few items that fit into that points range (eg some Lego, and random other items worth up to $US50). However, there doesn't seem to be a view on the site to show all awards by points cost.

Another option is a short haul upgrade on Emirates, but I'm not planning any EK flights in the near future.

Any suggestions for other ideas to redeem the points, or advice on how to find the closest item to 14980 miles that I can redeem them for and then gift/resell or similar?

Ok, well I did find out how to search using points. Must have missed that option...

Seeing I don't really care for the set of 3 mixing bowls @ 14900 points, the Salt or Pepper Mill @ 14900 miles, or even the wine finer @ 14500 points... still looking for any other suggestions as to what to do with the miles.

The points+pay doesn't look too bad - seems to be about $US0.007/point... although most of the items in the store are just stylished rubbish.

Top up the miles and redeem them for usage on Emirates or an Emirates partner.

Unfortunately about the only thing I currently think I can fit into my plans would be a LHR-DBX in the next month or so, for which I'd need an additional ~25500 miles. All plans after July are current in limbo, so no use in booking something I'd have to cancel anyway, and apart from my trip to Asia next week, no other plans to head there or to other places where partner redemptions would work.

With the cost @ US2.5c/mile + taxes (and I would need a partner transaction to get the additional ~500 miles over my annual buy limit), this doesn't really make sense to me.

Oh well. Will keep thinking about what lego or other random items make sense as a gift ;) The other option is a Westfield Gift voucher, but I'd have to buy points... and the economics would be low.

I ended up buying a couple of items from the "Emirates High Street". The current free shipping promotion did make it somewhat better value.

Because I'm shipping the items to the UK, I have to pay VAT on them (@ 17.5% of the "cost"). That does make buying things quite a bit less attractive. But I think I got some value - especially since the miles were set to expire and were pretty much worthless.

Item 1:
Amazon Price: $US72. Best UK price I've found $US41.
I paid 11000 points + $US12.41 VAT

Item 2:
Amazon Price: $US37 (Or could be $US18 depending on the exact model)
I paid: $US14.11 (3682 miles + $US8 co-pay as I didn't have enough miles + $US6.11 VAT)

From the examples above, neither are exceptional, and does show how worthless the miles are for purchasing things.

And no, I didn't buy the work bench (futaris will know what I'm talking about!)
