Hi All

Today marked my 112th flight for the year and I also hit 2100 SC's for the year with my anniversary date not due to hit until the 29th of Feb 2011.

So I've now got a Partner Gold to deal with. My wife travels about twice a year so that would be of no use to her. Every other family member would do about the same. Don't know anyone who would benefit from it and not giving it to anyone from my work.

So I wonder if it can be auctioned off on Ebay? Surely it's got to be worth something to someone?

Or should I shoot for the 2400 SC's before the end of Feb to try and get the free 50k worth of points?

Hi All

Would never have thought of that, wonder if it is legal?

Certainly introduces a new twist to the phrase "friends with benefits".

If mrs snowmoo travels with you when she does travel I would say go for the points as 50000 points is worth more than the status bonus she will earn and you can guest her into the J lounge anyway.

If you have no one to give it to then you might as well shoot for the 2400SCs.

I have a daughter who is cross with me that I didn't get the extra 230SCs to get to the 2100 to get her the PG.

I think that on AFF that is termed child abuse.;)

I wonder what people would pay for SG status-QP membership+extra points?

Deja Vu, my daughter is exactly the same. 14 years old, travels probably 3-4 times per year and thinks she needs gold status. A perfect xmas present she thinks.

I think PG on Ebay would surely fetch upwards of 1k on ebay. Think about $600 for QP membership and then 1.5x points worth an extra $400.

Yeah but my daughter is 30+ and actually thought for a while about funding the 230 SCs.

Snowmoo - we sound very similar - and you've almost done as many flights as I have - 130 something this year.

I actually had partner gold on my account (with a WP partner!) but have since reached 3895 SC (although I am quite annoyed I won't make 4000SC as my year expires tonight:() ....I happily took the 50,000 points rather than giving some unworthy soul free SG ;)

I would definitely go for the extra 300 SCs and the 50,000 QFF points if it was possible and I had no-one to give Partner Gold membership.

My wife travels 2 or 3 times a year without me, usually TT in J. Her PG does not benefit her usually, but I wouldn't dream of giving it off to someone else. 50k FF points, pfft, wouldn't even waste time on the thought, it's an insult from QFF

wow. that's a big year. So 6-9 months to join the realms of LTG with that effort

esquire, I have heard through a few people that have achieved it, and others that know about it, that there is in fact a level in between CL and WP (higher WP status). Have you been offered this? It does exist, l know for a fact.

You serious? there's an inbetween? what's it called? anyone else confirm this voodoo level?

I will be taking the 50k points.

+1 is currently SG in his own right. After our trip to Europe in March he will get WP.

I think 50,000 points used in the correct way (Towards a JASA/FASA) are worth $1k anyway.

Are you sure? I think Platinum + Partner Gold is an unofficial status between Chairmans Lounge and Platinum which doesn't really provide any additional benefits other than a greater customer value with Qantas which may assist in upgrade requests and op-ups.

Maybe it's called the "Case of Bin 707 for Xmas" level

Suggest you check the details on whom you may nominate as your "Partner Gold" recipient; from memory, there are restrictions that apply.
