So given we're getting some Double Tree accommodation houses in the very near future, what is your experience with them?

What can we expect? I see the benefits are largely the same as Hilton and reports are the properties can be close to Hilton standard, so is there a downside? Lounges??

The Doubletree's I've stayed at in the US have been closer to a Hilton than a Hampton Inn and generally not too bad.

The last week of February I'm booked into the Doubletree Shanghai in Pudong, which is one of their newest properties. From the website it looks pretty good, a bit more luxurious than the others and includes an executive lounge.

The chocolate chip cookies are pretty moorish, they give them to you warmed when you check in.:D

Straitman, I'll dissect mine after I check in and get back to you!

I have had but one stay at a Double tree so am hardly qualified to answer the question......but hey in the great tradition of AFF why let that stop me!! ;)

I stayed at the Double Tree in Shenyang had have to say it was very good. As Fantic125 posted it was more like a Hilton than a Hampton Inn. I booked the cheapest room and received a King Exec and all the diamond perks you would expect from a Hilton. It was a newish property with exec lounge.

The warm cookies were a pleasant surprise on a day when the high was -19.

I stayed at the DT west end in London. Felt like a small cosier Hilton.

Upgraded to an exec room, good size and yes the cookie!

I'll be returning there for sure!

I've stayed at a couple of Doubletrees and found them perfectly acceptable. Not as high class as the Hilton brand but they don't pretend to be. Essentially good basic hotels which delivered on their promise.

Would love to have a couple more in Australia. Be good for a mattress run or two.

I was in the Doubletree Boston last weekend and must say it did have a Hilton feel about it. Due to overwhelming circumstances (Boston 5th largest winter snow storm) they were short of staff , so certain services like room service was not available. Buffet breakfast , lunch & dinner were provide at a nominal cost during the storm as everything was closed .The staff there were exceptional as they had stay in the hotel for 3 days due to no transport / roads blocked . I was greeted & recogonised at checkin as HH Gold Member , provide with a welcome pack which included 2 bottles of water , some candy chews & the the warm choc chip biscuit . An overall good experience in trying circumstances.

Over the last few years I've stayed at probably a couple of dozen DoubleTree hotels in various parts of the USA. The majority are quite good, I'd say just a fraction below Hilton as far as standards go. The staff have always been excellent.

From memory not many had Executive Lounges but I've always been upgraded to an Executive floor and received the usual Diamond perks, similar to what you get at Hilton Hotels, including the now standard 1,000 HHonors Bonus Points per stay.

I've always enjoyed the warm chocolate-chip cookies (I've never counted them let alone counted the choc-chips or the calories). I should have at least counted the calories!

It will be nice to have them in Australia (the hotels and the cookies).

Cookies !!! :D

Please explain Princess

Every guest gets one on check-in. Sometimes two :) No calories whatsoever
( Ok the last part is a figment of my imagination )

Did someone say Cookie???

I checked and mine has at least 40 bits of chocolate and the odd peanut. These things should come with a warning:

Luckily I took a self portrait just prior to the consumption of my second :

Don't forget there was a small EL there too! You had to be in first if you wanted anything though... food didn't seem to be topped up much (not the hot stuff anyway).

I often stay at one for work and get it for £55 (or thereabouts), so quite nice really when I include my free breakfast for being Gold.

Yep, I believe there's one due for Karratha isn't there?

Does anyone know the date from which you can book for one of the new converted Hiltons / DTs in Darwin or Alice - as a Hilton member?
