We stayed at the BKK Millenium last week and they were serving wines from Chile. The white was a Sauv. Blanc and normally I don't like this variety but this offering wasn't bad at all. Not sharp or acidic but you could taste the fruit.
The red was a Cab Sauv. and although a 2012 vintage it was mellow and easy on the palate. Not big on flavour like a Coonawarra but still easy drinking

Currently at the KL Hilton and the wines are also from Chile but a different Vineyard. The white is also a Sauv. Blanc and easy drinking but not much on the fruit. The red was a Cab. Sauv. and very mellow. Also a 2012 vintage and just average.

As a regular at Hilton Brisbane & Adelide I can say the wine in both lounges is very disappointing.

In Brisbane they use the same brand for both the whites & reds. I think the Chardonnay is ok but the Shiraz is very light in color and not good at all.
I noticed that the bubbly is usually the most popular choice there but although I never tried it, being the same brand as the others, I don't expect it's any better.
Sometimes I find a free gift bottle in my room (usually Shiraz) and I take it home only to use it for cooking.

In Adelaide the verity is a bit better but far from impressive. There is a choice between 2 whites & 2 reds + bubbly.
There are 2 different brands, both from SA but it seems they selected very cheap stuff. It's a shame because they could easily find some mid - rage local wines and by buying in bulk they would pay only a few $$ extra and making a great advertisement for the SA wines.

I have to say that SPG lounges in Australia have a much better selection of wines, usually 2-3 whites & 3-4 reds with a nice range of local & imported brands.

Occasionally in Brisvegas they have Domaine Chandon for the bubbles instead of the one from the awful Stones range. HSP just has the Stones no frills range, as does Sydney, but they also appear to have some different bottles on display (can't remember the name) - could be just for show! Has anyone ever been allowed to try these?
It is a shame that they're not showcasing Oz wine better, but maybe it's a self-limiting strategy and quite deliberate!

Got to agree that ADL in particular, and HH hotels in Oz in general, have some pretty dire wines in their lounges (and rotten food at ADL). I visited the ADL lounge last year and left after one very ordinary red, and a greasy fried dim sim or similar. The wines seem generally to be well below the quality of wines in airline lounges.

The Bay of Stones rubbish is available for less than $6 a bottle wholesale, so it's no wonder it's common place in the lounges. The wines in ADL when I've been there have been okay.

As long as they don't get rid of Pimms and Ginger Ale I will be placated :)
