JFK to SYD in PE or JFK to LAX in Y (with a stopover at DFW) and then LAX to SYD in J.

All flights are on points.

I will keep monitoring JFK to SYD for a business seat as QF normally release a few the days or weeks before.

Thanks for the help!

Personally I'd go Y/J especially if had lounge access at DFW.

Overnight in J absolutely

The diff between PE and economy is trivial on domestic American - esp if you have status and can pick a nice seat on the us legs anyway

Absolutely J on the trans pacific! PE is the equivalent of domestic business class. Ok for a few hours… but you’d be exhausted after 20!

I have a similar dilemma. Currently booked in QF PE, but can book AA J from LAX to SYD.

Any word on if it's worth it?

thanks everyone. have updated my booking to AA J class now!

How is the Flagship business lounge vs the OW lounge in LAX? Guessing there is time to do both anyway

I actually think flagship lounges are a marked step up from business class lounges! Free flowing champagne for starters, and usually a pretty good buffet of both hot and cold dishes. Far more extensive than the usual J class lounge offerings.

Agreed. I don’t bother with the OW J Lounge at LAX and just go straight to the flagship lounge.

Got seats in Row 4 (mini cabin AA 777). Is that too close to the galley in peoples prior experiences?

Row 6 and 12 are available as well in the larger cabin

Perfect seats! Very quiet mini cabin, almost identical to Cathay’s set-up on their 777, where the mini cabin is considered the bast place in business class.

The main cabin is… well… large! You’ll have a lot more foot traffic past you to the WCs and crew going back and forth to the galley. Row 12 is too close to the engines, which on a 777 are noticeably loud.

Thanks for the tip re flagship lounge at LAX. Didn't realise there was one and will save the walk to TBIT

Can confirm was definitely worth it.

Check in & security was a breeze at Terminal 4. We were airside in 5 minutes.

AA Flagship Lounge was great. Rated it better than the OW Lounge which was a zoo

Flight itself was very comfortable. The mini J cabin I highly recommend, was very quiet.

Food not great but the mattress pad on those seats has to be one of the best in the world and was easily the most sleep I had got on a J class flight.

Would I pay for AA business, nope. But a great points redemption
