Just noticed that the current VA cards have the expiry date printed on them as the date of qualification rather than any grace period. From memory the old ones used to say "Valid until" or similar and there was a printed grace period written on the card.

I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one here whose Velocity Platinum status expires on the 25th August and it's just occurred to me from that date onwards the cards will likely be no good on most partner airlines. Has anyone had their Gold/ Silver status renew recently? If so can you confirm when exactly the new card arrived?

The reason it is on my mind is that my wife recently qualified for partner plat and it took a good few weeks to the card out. Not a big deal in that case but I am leaving about 2 weeks later for a RTW trip with legs on VA, EY, VS and DL - that's a lot of potential lounge issues should the card not arrive by then. Anyone leaving earlier and being away for a long trip could hit real issues.

I'm sure i'm not the only one in a similar boat. I *really* hope that VA have plans in place to get all the renewing platinum cards out in good time well before the 25th of August or whatever date they expire or the sound of scores of screaming FF'ers being denied entry to lounges could be rather deafening.

Have you flipped it over to where it says card is valid one month after expiry?

You know, it use to be two months ;)

Yes, and I also know the now discontinued midrange Virgin model DJ used to suit me a heck of a lot better than the new improved Virgin prestige model VA.......but as I am continually reminded, Liam.........keep up, it's not all about you! ;)

I never own the flagship of the automotive lines, 'cause they lose you heaps of cash in devaluation and cost plenty along the way. Give me a midrange variant any day.

It doesn't matter either way if you requalify, surely?
