When can VA allocate seats on NZ metal?

Does anyone know when VA can allocate seats on NZ metal that they code-share with across the Tasman? Even the VA call centre people don't know!

I asked the same thing, but told no I'd have to ring ANZ. Still have to do that. Will report back when I find out.

I've tried that but NZ say they can't allocate seats because the ticket was booked on VA. The VA agent asked me to try them (VA not NZ) again 3-4 weeks before I'm due to fly out.

The old DJ website used to specifically warn that seat selection was not available on NZ operated codeshares (I guess that's now covered under the generic 'not available on all services' wording).

NZ's booklet with advice to travel agents re the alliance says pre-allocation of seating isn't available for Velocity passengers who book codeshares operated by NZ:

The NZ website says seat selection on flights booked with VA is 'under development.'
