When is award booking secured?

Hi,

I'm fairly new to this so please excuse my ignorance, but I've just booked a oneworld award through Asia Miles (over the phone). At what point are my flight bookings secured? Now or at the point where Asia Miles issue the tickets (which I've heard can take a while)? A couple of the flights have no award seats left so just concerned if it's the latter.

Did the agent give you a PNR reference over the phone?

If so, check the status of each flight segment in manage my booking.

once you have a ticket number

AM centre will give you a deadline before the ticket is automatically cancelled (you can check this in manage my booking).

So if the on-request flights become confirmed by then (you'll get a notification when it does) you can speak to AM again to finalise the ticket, at which point the miles will be deducted and the ticket number issued.
