Random question ... so brief run down ...

booked a ticket in business
saw a better option, changed to first (my word the pain that summation is skipping)
it wasnt getting ticketed (see pain)

contacted the help through twitter to say "hey i know its saturday night but i was told about 10 hours ago this would get ticketed and its hasnt .. i'm worried i'm going to lose the booking"

Twitter person "I understand your concern ... I have ticketed this and the points team will take the additional points of the change on monday"

Monday .. nothing
Tuesday ... nothing

Wednesday ... still nothing so I contact twitter people again and have another back and forth "hey did this change, points still havent been taken, please take the points"

Thurs / Fri ... nothing ...

So that aside my question is really do i worry about this? do I hound them until the points gets taken, its about 40,000 in difference. The flight is ticketed, do I just shut up and take the win? or is this going to disappear into thin air at some point after i've battled to get it?

Thanks for sticking with the story!

The points may be taken or they may not be. Refunds may be given they may not be and in some cases double refunds may be given

How do you know it’s ticketed? Just because they have said so, or do you hold a PDF ticket with a ticket number on it? If you don’t have the latter, it’s as good as not being ticketed.

If it has been genuinely ticketed, but no points taken, it will be subject to cancellation at some point. You need to pursue this to see a PDF ticket with a ticket number on it, and it being paid for by points.

Have a PDF with ticketed # on it and have the booking in Check my trip and can see the 081 ticketed number which matches the one on the PDF so far i've paid about 200,000 points for it but should be an addition 40,000 to go with the move from business to first for 2 legs

Ah, understand. I’d still be uncomfortable with my present ticket, not being fully paid for, so if I were you, I would still pursue it.

I had a not dissimilar situation at some point in the midst of the pandemic. Had a classic award to Canada booked. Changed dates and routing in the hope that borders may have reopened by then (hah! Cute!) that resulted in overall points price being higher. It was ticketed almost immediately but took a couple of weeks for the points to be deducted. I wasn’t toooo concerned at the time because I miraculously (as a lowly SG) got through to Hobart when I made the change and the gentleman was very on point.

These days I would be far more inclined to keep chasing them up to have the points deducted and not relax until it happened. Too many dream trips are being ruined at present due to ticketing stuff ups and overseas call centre staff clumsily poking around award bookings.

Is your booking all on QF or other airlines? If others, pursue the matter vigorously!

mostly EK.

Thanks guys, I had thought I would have to keep going at them, just annoying lol when i've already had teeth grinding and hair pulling over this booking

My take is you should just leave it, provided there's sufficient points in your account for them to take at any time. If it's ticketed, it's ticketed.
