A bit of fun ... Trying to figure out where our next holiday should be. Perhaps Sept-Oct school hols, or probably Christmas hols. Or maybe something bigger next year.
There's three of us - 2 adults, 1 5.5yo.
Bring AFF, I'd prefer to go somewhere where we'll fly to. Maybe a long weekend in MEL. Or Fiji. Or go to Singapore ...
Prefer flying with OWE (& after 1 Oct for my WP requal!!). Haven't yet set a budget, it's not unlimited, but as this is a playground post, we can pretend to a degree that it is.

SO ... Where do you think we should go? I'm curious to hear some different ideas. Little Miss 5 is keen on Paris (again - she's been twice already ) or China.
For us, we need some relaxing time. We can be quite full on when travelling, so laid back is good. Locations with good caffeine input systems are also preferred. ;)

And .... go! :)

SJU!

First class fares are cheap from West Coast USA and there's some good Caribbean resorts in Puerto Rico.

One really good part is there's no immigration requirement when heading home through the USA.

So many possibilities :) which might start to be narrowed down by your previous experiences and tastes. Paris and China don't quite come to mind for me for a relaxing time though ;)

For relaxing, Fiji would be a good choice (barring any weather and political calamities!). Or Queenstown, or northern Queensland, or Tasmania...

Alternately, how about Japan, or Singapore (I want to do this for the relatively cheap FASAs one day), or California...

Those are my ideas (all from experience except Japan) :)

If you want to do China and have a relaxing time I would suggest avoiding Beijing or Shanghai. I would recommend Hangzhou which is a peaceful city built around a tranquil lake. Or you could go to Xi'an an ancient city filled with history. Cathay/Dragon air will get you there.

Thanks! China isn't exactly on my list with Little Miss at this age. We've only been to Singapore and Tokyo before, I think I'd rather Thailand before China - while she's little. And there's a slim chance I might end up going to China some time in the next year for work. Certainly look like I'll spend the rest of the day elbow deep in Simplified Chinese (the written language!).

We've taken our kids (now aged 11 & 9) throughout Asia over the last 7 years......highly recommend Laos, Cambodia & Vietnam amongst all the usual destinations.

If you want to mix city & beach take a look at this The Nam Hai Hoi An | 5 Star Boutique Luxury Hotel Vietnam | GHM Hotels We've stayed twice & really enjoyed our 2 + weeks.

Ho Chi Minh - Hoi An - Hanoi makes for a happy trip.

Thanks! Wondering if visiting the relatives in Japan over Dec/Jan might be an idea ... hmmm ... :)

Would want to like the cold......I've always found the pool to be a godsend with traveling with young ones.

HKG Disney Land is a good day and a bit.

Then go up to Shenzen for some China time(Just a train ride)

If you want a very relaxing few days go to Costa Bella Resort in Cebu in Philippines.

CX flys HKG to CBU

Cheap cab fare from airport and the food/Coffee/Drinks are great and staff are awesome.

Cebu Hotel Resort - Costabella Beach Hotel Cebu

I stayed there for a few days this year on a boys trip and it was great to be out of all the hustle and bustle of Philippines.

Right, Mr Katie isn't yet keen on HKG, and has dissed the idea of NRT/Japan in Jan.
Starting to think a long weekend in Sept/Oct school hols - but just SYD/MEL.

Starting to think Jan might be the time for us to go to Thailand for the first time. Pretty much all of my family on Dad's side have been. Hmmm ...
