Hi everyone

I have an ANZ QF platnium Visa/ Amex and a woolworths QF MasterCard.

What card should I use overseas, ie cheapest fees and best QF FF reap.

Neither if you want to save on Forex fees, either get a 28 degrees or use a Citibank Visa Debit attached to a plus account, both offer very low cost cash access and great exchange rates. Just watch out for direct currency conversion, there is a worrying trend in HKG and other places where you need to opt out on signing, not opt in.

I agree with Markis10 as I got sick of paying about 4% for QF points when travelling overseas.
28 degrees is totally brilliant with the best exchange rates but zero points.

For purchases I would get a Bankwest Qantas Platinum MC. This is the best of both worlds with no forex fees and 1:1 point earn. Note that drawing cash on this card is still subject to cash advance fees and therefore not recommended. I would get either the 28 degrees or the citibank plus for atm withdrawals overseas.

Hi,

I just recently got a 28 degrees card and have used it for os purchases with no forex fee - so thumbs up from me.
Though I did find out that if I tried to use the card through paypal then paypal offered awful exchange rates and so had to make the purchase direct by typing in my card details which I prefer not to do too often.
(I think there is an option within paypal to not exchange the currency but I couldn't find it).

I have no idea about QF FF though...

The 28 degrees is no longer recommended for doing cash withdrawals as from the start of 2014 they will begin charging cash advance fees.

Citibank Plus' Visa Debit is the only remaining option for fee-free foreign cash withdrawals.

The Bankwest Qantas Platinum is a good CC option for OS purchases.

In Singapore recently was asked if I wanted to charge amount in Australian $ or Singapore$
Any idea of difference in terms of fees?

Thats called direct currency conversion, and is generally 4% or more higher than using a Citi card, so be wary, I was ripped off in HKG when I was automatically opted in, and had to opt out when signing which I did not notice, luckily it was $1 lost but still left a off taste in my mouth. Auto opt in for direct currency conversion is becoming more popular, no doubt for the extra margin!

In the four years I have used the Wizard 28 degree for cash advances overseas they have basically made no money out of me .... It was a great card and I am sad to see it go.

Can anybody suggest which card may now be the best for cash advances overseas. NAB was in the running a few years back but I am not sure anymore.

Not cash advances, as it's your own money, but Citibank Plus.
