Flying QF from HKG to SYD as a OWE in 2days. Is the CX lounge much better than the QF one? Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated!

As a OWE the CX First lounges are the best in HKG and where you should be heading,

The Pier First Class has just reopened after extensive renovation and should be your first stop to try out the spa and the private day rooms with runway views. Bear in mind it is at gate 63 and QF often departs from the low numbered gates so you will need to allow 15mins or so to walk back (or order a buggy). There is also The Wing First Class near the single digit gates which offers private cabanas with baths and a champagne lounge and dining room.

If you haven't been before I would be going early to allow plenty of time to dine and relax - enjoy!

Head to the lounge closest to your departure gate unless you feel like a lounge crawl on the day.

Another vote for this lounge. No champagne bar a la The Wing but sensational lay-out and ambience. I posted some pics and commentary here (as did others in that thread).
To answer MH_Fan's question: Yes, the CX lounges (The Wing, The Pier) are better than the QF one.

Head to the lounge closest to your departure gate unless you feel like a lounge crawl on the day.

No need for a crawl, just catch the train thing to the west concourse, a bit of a walk and you're at the best place in the Terminal :) .

Head to the pier first class. It's amazing.
I've been quite underwhelmed by The Wing F lounge.
Went to the newly reopened Pier F lounge 2 weeks ago. Very nice.
I made sure to use the nearest transit checkpoint after my HND-HKG flight. Sad that my connection to BOS left from gate 19, so I had to leave the Pier early to walk to the other end of the airport (though flight was delayed and I moved to the G16 lounge so I could relax and look down at the gate until they started boarding)

In your opinion it's the best lounge.

Not everyone rates a lounge on showers or the champagne on offer or if they have a spa on offer.

The food in the Qantas lounge is more than adequate. The buffet in the Wing restaurant was quite nice.

Unless my gate is near gate 63 or I really need some exercise then no need to go that far.

Pier and Wing are both excellent lounges - nice showers, day rooms /cabanas. QF is also an excellent alternative - I found the service there to be the best of the three (surprisingly/unsurprisingly?); they even remembered my name when I came back a week later!

I think lounge hopping is an excellent idea, and a good way to burn off those excess calories from the food and drink you'll consuming (or was it just me ...) :p

Yes, of course its my opinion - I think everyone realises that - I don't represent it as anyone else's opinion ;)

You express your opinion (as you have), I'll express mine and sometimes we'll express our opinion about each other's opinion, and we'll all get on.

I'm a Wing and Pier fan too, but I always call in to the QF lounge if I have time; the staff are terrific and they make a mean Bloody Mary.

Probably not best to quote my post then?

You think the best lounge is the Pier and I think the best lounge is the lounge closest to departure gate. ;)

I agree. I had departure from gate 67 a week ago and the Bridge was most suitable for me.

The QF lounge was around the corner just after clearing immigration.

The CX F lounges are better than the QF lounge. The Wing is the place to be if you want a cabana. Otherwise head to the pier.

While the CX J lounges are nice enough, F is a marked step up.

The QF lounge, depending on the time of the day can be very quiet. Which is good if you want some peace.

...but.......but.......but

Thanks for all the replies and opinions. I think I'll visit the Pier first and then head over to the QF lounge about an hour before departure.
