I never take much notice of which planes I'm flying on, so I wanted to ask which is better in J Class: 737-800 or 747-300?

743 is better in J; you get Dreamtime Seats with Personal IFE.

73H gives 'millenium' seats with mainscreen IFE.

(In WHY, the seats are basically the same; however you do get Pesonal IFE ion the 743's)

QFlyer - Qantas Fleet Information has some good information and photos.

Look for 747-338:

& 737-838:

In general a/c that are used for longhaul have better seat comfort and amenities than a/c that are used only for short and medium haul. This is true for most airlines. Of course there may still be variations with different a/c type and configurations.
