I'm totally confused with the chase for international redemptions.

I have:
AA
USDM
VA
VS
QF

I have a holiday booked in Jan 2015 in Maldives and am trying to find the best way to get redemption miles to enable 3 rtn F or J seats. I currently have circa 120k VS miles, 100k VFF points, 20k QFF points and a smattering of AA miles. (also some SPG points and about 100k HH points)

I have no problem with buying points and I'm not too bad on finding miles to buy and even the value of those respective points, but I stumble badly when trying to find just how good/bad the prospect of redeeming the points are in each programme. Even VS I find a real nightmare trying to find availability (sample, as I know Jan 2015 is still too far out to book).

May I ask, what's the general thoughts on the best prospects for finding available redemptions (including miles programmes I don't have like Avianica)? Thanks to past advice, I'm currently thinking VS SYD-HKG rtn in J with miles and then HKG-MLE rtn with MA in J as an outright buy simply because I'm getting so confused with the whole miles redemption thing. Any words of wisdom for a complete int. goose?

(I also have no issue with retaining the VS miles for future LHR flights)
