Hi all,

I recently asked a similar question on the QANTAS thread.

My wife and I have ~400,000 QFF points from various trips, cards, WOW etc. We were planning on a trip with them but we are now expecting no 2....

We have just gotten an AMEX and given all the recent stuff with QFF we thought it that the membership rewards was a better option than the QFF one. Is there a plan we might use which will be best - given we already have all these QFF points? I like the fact we can keep the points as MR and not tranfer them until we need them.

Cheers

Amex does give you a decent range of airlines to choose from.

I'd suggest signing up with Thai and Malaysian Enrich as they have the odd 50% off points sale.

Singapore Airlines offeres a 15% online booking discount as well so you'll find a one way J flight is around 46500 miles rather than QF 60

Virgin Velocity can be good for USA trips. J rewards are less miles and significantly less fuel taxes than QF.

No harm in joining the programmes as they're all free.

But be very carefull about mileage expiry & award surcharges.
All airlines have exactly the same real taxes for the same route & class of travel

Amex --> SPG Starwood---> many airlines works for some. Check conversion rates & bonus's
