I have a flight (to USA) already booked and rapidly approaching with Air New Zealand. My friends suggest I take out a FF membership before I go, and get this put on it. Is this possible? Do I have to join with Air New Zealand or do I have other options with affiliates?

Thanks in advance for the help

Deb.

You can go to the Air NZ website and join online (www. airnz.com.au) Unless you fly a lot, I would join the Air NZ program and forget about the other star-alliance carriers - they are expensive to redeem points on, and you only need 30,000 points to cross the Tasman on Air NZ in their program, plus it is looking increasingly likely that Qantas and Air NZ will enter an alliance. Also it links to local credit card programs (Westpac Visa, Amex, amongst others), so this is handy for topping up points you earn for flying. Also note that if you're flying b4 Sept 30, you will get a 5,000 point bonus. Whatever you do, don't join United's program, as they looking very much like Ansett at the moment - ie burning cash fast and in need of surgery.

thanks - I did

I joined airpoints for free, got 5000 free points and flew
and got credit. It was pretty cool. I hope dajop's right about
the australian carriers. Already I can almost fly return to NZ.
Thanks!
