Hello Mr Statesman,

Your temporary PIN for your Qantas Frequent Flyer account is 1234.

You will need to use your temporary PIN to access both the secure area of the
website and when contacting us by telephone.

To maintain security over your account we recommend that you login and change
your PIN as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer Service Centre

I called then and asked them to freeze my account as I don't want my points to dissapear. They didn't seam all that worried and told me just "call in the morning"

Not me! Whoever it was has to very naive though thinking they can get away with a redemption of any kind unless off course they are trying to sabotage your account.

Wouldn't someone need your FF number to do this?

How would/could they know that?

Automated script to log into QF accounts starting at 0000001 and increasing, then script to request a new PIN. Not sure though how they could hope to hack the account though from that...

Is it possible that someone else with a similar account number as you and tried to log in thinking that it was there number and then you locked out, so then the option of sending an email to your registered email address.

A "friend" or visitor to the house or someone at work sees a boarding pass or an itinerary with the FF# on it.

You need the QFF account number and Surname.

Then there are two options:

1. Send new pin to registered Email account, OR

2. Don't send to Email account - you then need to supply the following:

To obtain a new PIN, please provide three pieces of personal information. At least one from the mandatory information section must be completed.

Few weeks back I was on QFF, I logged in under my name etc, and after a bit of browsing, the page was some other members account who had a high number of points and I had access to their details?? I closed it down and went back it and it was all OK.

Could this have something to do with cookies?

A few other people have reported this happening before... I can't find the thread just this moment though.

It turned out to be my Mother! I had clicked the "save details" button on her computers. So when she was typing in her pin it was failing. So she asked for a new one. ALl the while it was trying to access my account:shock:

Last i read was he was going around to sort the cousin out.The team of lawyers on FT thought marriott owed him the points as they did not check on identity.Only in LOTFAP

Had it happen to me a couple months back. Was checking on a booking, and got a message about the name on the booking not matching my name, and all the bookings vanished. Caused a minor panic!

I've had these emails from QFF about eight times - I did speak to them about it - they are not able to trace the requests (to say an IP address). Before you ask, I know it's not my Mum either. The only other person that uses a PC that I regularly use is my wife and she denies ever accessing the QFF site let alone requesting a new PIN.

I figure someone with a QFF id close to mine is keying in my number by mistake and initiating the PIN reset. I would prefer if QFF could track these requests to determine if any fraudulent activity was being attempted (esp since it seems to be my account), but I am not holding my breath for it.

Now that you mention it I reckon I had the same thing happen some years ago (except it was my mum, not yours )

Maybe it's that person trying to sell Adidas/Gucci/etc shoes trying to hack into your account?
