As the title reads I just got my upgrade and have no idea who to call RE: The Qantas First Host LA. Thanks!

As far as I am aware, the first host will be waiting for you upon arrival..

I do have to wonder, what does a F host do in LAX? Seriously, perhaps shave 2 mins off TSA clearance, show you where the lounge is (already known to me), escort you to the plane (again - should be a simple task, and boarding is rarely painful).

Is there really anything offered that isn't obvious to me? Personally I would just deny access to a F host and "do my own thing". Granted, if things go bad, then I would love their assistance, but otherwise...

The F host didn't stop AA leaving Dad's bag in Miami and then sending it to Guayaquil instead of Quito.

They're probably not as good as the CX hosts who give you the whole treatment

When you arrive in LAX the First host collects and minds the F bags while you wait 2 hours in the immigration line ;)

IF QF actually remember to put the F tags on your bags.

Really? I've had a few F trips over the past few months and there has never been anything on arrival.
Only experience was in J on LAX-AKL late last year, but even then it was just an intro and offer to board first. Maybe someone with more experience could clarify what a First host is supposed to be doing/when it's to be expected..

My last 3 times arriving into LAX on QF 11 that's what I saw- and heard being announced on the PA.

Of course - 2 of those times QF had neglected to put F tags on my bags so they enjoyed a 2 hour carousel ride last time ;).

The time before when I was in F, there was no host, no immigration line either :)

Okay guys I rang the OneWorld lounge in LAX and asked to be put through to the First Host. I was directed to a nice Italian man named Julio (pronounced Jew-lee-oh) who gave me a number to call when I was ten minutes away. We pulled up and he took my son and I's bag and already had boarding cards printed. We went through the side of the security, up the elevator and into the FLounge (which is a hole to be honest). As of this moment I am still waiting for boarding.

Are you talking about security at the far end of the building or another secret entrance? Were you escorted through security?

Couple of experiences.
At LAx a few years ago the Host greeted me by name, went through priority security with me, walked me to the head of the J boarding queue to get my BP scanned, then walked with me to my seat & stowed my wheelaboard, introducing me to the CSM at the door & FA in my section, & arranged a glass of bubbles. I slipped on my sunnies & settled in, ignoring the curious stares of those around me..

Most times when I arrive in the US, both LAX & DFW, there is a 1st host greeting new arrivals. Last time I asked him what would be the sort of things he could assist me with. Whatever I needed was basically the answer, including expediting me & my bags to check in for a Star Alliance carrier if I wanted.

Given that there was only one of him, Most of the time he would only be assisting those people who approach him fast with a certain look of desperation about them.

There are usually only one or two on duty, they can't wait for everyone and escort everyone. Don't know how they pick who they are going to escort, but I've had a few. All of that is fluff really, whats really good is if you get to know them, they can pull strings - that's the real value, especially when things aren't going well (flights cancelled, delayed, oversold, etc)

Have travelled QF First on a number of occasions - but only on points upgrades or Awards or the occasional (and ever so welcome) Op Up. Never have encountered a QF First Host. Although - inexplicably - we were met by a Host when in transit a few years ago at Frankfurt, and were escorted and assisted between terminals, much to our bemusement, as we were travelling J at the time.
Which airports, apart from LAX and MEL/SYD, provide the service?

If your a CL P1 member do you get either JT, MK or AJ to carry your bags and escort you around and get the drinks...
