Why can't you book SQ Premium Economy as a Virgin Australia codeshare?

I really wish VA would allow us to buy cash SQ premium economy. I don't understand why we can book SQ PE with points, but not cash...??

Must admit I do find this odd myself and frustrating myself.
Though on the flip side VA codeshares on SQ do seem to be more expensive than buy from SQ direct.

No idea why they don't offer the option. Though it could be due to the Etihad (and now Qatar) partnership in which they don't offer PE.

It's not that unusual...pretty sure its the same for United...in fact with United they don't offer Premium Plus with cash OR points. Small cabin...guessing maybe SQ keeps that inventory for themselves to manage. Same with the SQ F cabin...they don't sell that either.

I guess they have a quota/fixed number of reward seats that they share with their partners but don't have any such arrangement for revenue/cash tickets. Hence you might not be able to book them unless VA has a code share agreement for that particular flight.

There is a way for it to work tho.
But of course, it has to be under an SQ flight number, and has to earn under KF, and then you transfer the points to VFF.
Yes, its not an ideal, and you have "some disadvantages" in the "deal", ie, no VFF SC from it, just the lowered VFF earned from this trip in the end.
If SQ won't release premY seats for sale to VA, there is nothing VA can do about it, as its SQ's decision.
SQ also knows, they can make rev from selling these premY tix, so they will keep it like that, and release reward tix on an adhoc basis.
Lots of people would pay for premY on a flight, just for the extra space, and a bit more kg that will be allocated to them, baggage wise.

I'm currently trying to purchase a Perth to Manchester flight and when booking through Virgin the option comes up for a codeshare flight operated by Singapore Airlines for $3,100, however if I search for the same flight directly on the SA website, its $4,200....My concern though is that it appears we can't choose our seats if we do it through Virgin though - is that correct?

Why would you add a KF number to the SQ booking?? Just add your VA number and earn Velocity points and status credits at the premium economy rate.

No it's not correct. You get the SQ booking reference and use the SQ website to manage seat assignment. You may run into an issue where there is no email address against your booking and this prevents you selecting seats, but that can be fixed...eventually.

You can add your VA number and still get free onboard wifi...just ask SQ customer service to help. VA number for earn, SQ number for benefits.

Does it mean , we can get free wifi onboard SQ metal being Velocity Gold/Platinum member ? I never knew this , any reference on points are appreciated.

Your velocity status is irrelevant. All Krisflyer members get free wifi. You can have both a Velocity AND a Krisflyer number added to the booking so that you can earn Velocity points and status credits but also use the benefits of Krisflyer membership. You cannot do this yourself...you should ask SQ to add both numbers.
