Why does Delta change already selected VA seats?

On a rare occasion that I fly LA back to BNE on a flexi I managed to upgrade to Business with points. First time going business, so was very excited to be able to select 1C. It's row 1, and I always sit in the isle.

So I check in at Miami and Delta gives me a boarding pass for the LA to BNE leg too, and I am not in 5F. The middle.

And by the time I realise it, it is too late to change.

Why change it? It completely makes a mockery of the benefit of being able to select a seat!

On top of that I had Virgin America not recognizing any Platinum benefits, so not a happy camper. May be first world problems but it took the shine off something I was looking forward to!

Yeah that sucks. It could have been an operational change of some sort. Its a shame they didn't point it out to you when they gave you the boarding pass.

Yeah I've had issues with Virgin America before not recognising it right away. I have always been able to talk them into understanding and sometimes with the help of the Virgin Australia Website.

Did you tell them you are VA Plat or just put your FF in? You have to show them your plat chard when you check in and specifically ask for the priority sticker on your boarding pass and luggage.

Just make sure your WP number is in the booking ... Easy todo online.

This get recognized even if you OLCI.

I have had a PM from a Mod: yes, indeed, that I ramble. Too true.
But allow me this one analogy:
As I mention on here, I love wide bodied planes, one time, I made a point to book NZ flight, ADL to MEL to AKL, all the way on the 777 that NZ has daily.
Right, so one the way to AKL, (made on VA's website), they couldn't give me a window seat.
Then, for the trip back, I got a bleeding email or phone call, email I think it was, about 2.5 years ago, that my "flight has been changed".
They (VA) for what ever reason, moved me off the NZ flight from AKL to MEL, to ADL, and put me onto a narrow 737 from AKL to SYD to ADL.
I was not happy either.
Airlines do the stupidest things, and then they wonder why they are not liked, or not making a bonza of $.
I know my analogy will not/is not of assistance to the OP or anyone, but really, airlines or their managers or faceless persons, if they had the nous, would bend over backwards to keep the punters happy.
Can't use expletives to describe my "not happy Jan" moment when I got the email/phone call.
