Kids, this is why we go online every day and search for the same flight on the same day at the same time - all in the name of saving a few dollars.

Wanted to add our daughter to an existing itinerary but didn't want to pay the $$$ to amend our booking. There were SYD-LAX flights a few weeks ago that had Getaway fares at very good prices. But when we finally went to book, they had "sold out" plastered all over the search page and we were totally dismayed to see the fare jump to nearly double what it was.

We had the option of taking a hit and securing the seats, OR watch and wait. We decided on the latter and so I kept checking 3 times a day for the last 15 days.

It paid off big time this morning: husband checked around 5am and saw the Hell No price tag (again). I got to my desk at 9am and checked (again).

There, staring me right in the face, was a Getaway fare at a ridiculously low price. I rubbed my eyes and checked again. Still there, teasing me. Now I'm pretty sure there were Angels singing and some Divine Light Source from among clouds, because I swear it wasn't there 5 minutes beforehand. I looked closer and saw the 3 scariest words known to a Frequent Flyer: 1 Fare Left

I scrambled for the credit card and the rest is history. I saved over $500 and now my biggest issue is who's gonna feed the dogs while we're all away. Hopefully, other daughter to the rescue......

The moral to this story kids, is listen to your Aunty Clipped_Wings.

Look. Every. Day.
