Will QF book other airlines for me?

I'm putting together an itinerary

SYD-LHR-DOK (Donetsk, Russia) - CPH - SYD

The LHR-DOK leg is not able to be booked via a oneworld airline. I was wondering whether QF would, when I was on the phone, book a completely unrelated airline for me (non OW) a la a travel agent, just to make it all part of the one itinerary?

Might be a really stupid question!

Have you got in mind who flies between LHR-DOK-CPH.

This may help for interlining purposes.

QF is not 'faithful' to Oneworld carriers in exclusivity, they 'cheat' on them with numerous carriers that fill in the gaps in their network (China Eastern, China Airlines, Eva Air, Air France, South African etc etc etc). I'm interested if they can do this over the phone for you, do please let us know what they say...

I wouldn’t think so but interested in hearing the outcome.

So we were looking to do LHR-DOK with Aerosvit (best times and friends flying there already). The route is STN-KBP-DOK.

Wasn't me doing the talking to QFF but basically what was said:

The consultant asked what exact airline we were interested in flying with. When we mentioned Aerosvit she informed us that she hadn't heard of it being done and said that the best option was booking direct online.

She told us it was a to do with whether Qantas had ticketing rights for the airline in question.

Probably worth getting a travel agent to look into it for you - if you buy them seperately online you have no protection if one of the flights is late and you miss your connection . . .

Interesting, UA is not part of oneworld is it? and yet i can book that at qantas.com.au

Or construct it with Zuji and bring it to a TA that pricebeats

Ive got a 3 day buffer so should be okay. But point taken?

Qantas will include plenty of other ailines on their itineraries, as they can sell them as their agents. Aerosvit may not be one of them though!

And Singapore Airlines as well.

Qantas will sell flights where they have interline agreements in place.

You probably have already checked all this out but S7 do fly to Rastov-on-don, which a couple of hours south of Donetsk. Not sure if that is helpful or not. :)

Actually I don't think Donetsk has an airport! Unless you want to fly in to Donetsk in the Ukraine and then make you way by land. Otherwise the closest domestic airport to Donetsk, Russia is Rastov-on-Don.

No we are heading to the Ukrainian Donetsk.

I think its easiest to simply fly SYD-LHR on QF. Then use Aerosvit to fly to DOK. Even if their website is borderline unusable. Might have to use expedia or a similar rebooking site!
