Virgin Australia Platinum Plus Status Discussion

I'd just add that for me the extra cost of obtaining WP+ would be almost worth it if they would guarantee a neighbour free experience in Y.

I may be able to hit Plat + next year if I am doing more domestics than I currently am, but unless VA suddenly open up The Club (or whatever its called now) I can't see any real tangible benefits.
I do think if The Club was given as part of the benefits, I would absolutely have a red hot go at it.
EDIT: Now known as Beyond lounge....

Well that would be cheaper than building J lounges but existing Beyond members would be miffed.

Use once only. You get 12 months QR Platinum from the day you take your qualifying flight.

Obviously what you said is correct, but one off status matches are obviously very different to what is required to get status on an ongoing basis.

Going back to the comment I was replying to - could QR bring in a new status match offer open to Velocity members? They could, but it’s quite common for status match offers to explicitly exclude partner airlines, because the main point of them is to lure customers away from competitors. As such, closer ties between QR and VA probably makes a status match less likely rather than more likely.

Apologies if this has been answered before, but do we know how DSC promos will be counted?

With Platinum Plus... Will DSCs count towards the 500 (other) or 1500 (VA flights) buckets?

Yes, it will count towards the credits you need to earn yourself, providing you personally earn them (not pooled).

Great. Thanks. Do you know if this is on the record somewhere?
I have been looking for a definitive answer but have not yet been able to locate any.

Here in relation to "Forever Gold", the indication is yes as advised to @AFF Editor .

...
This means that status credits earned via the following methods will not count towards the 9,000 status credit requirement:
  • Partner airline marketed flights
  • ...
...
Conversely, we understand that the following types of status credits would count:
  • Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights
  • Codeshare flights with a VA flight number and operated by partner airlines
  • Bonus status credits from promotions such as Double Status Credits

However, I have not been able to find similar in relation to WP+.

Would it be logical to assume that P+ will be treated in a similar manner to Forever Gold? A large portion that has be earned directly by the beneficiary on VA metal and a small portion that can be earned indirectly.
