The original Woolworth Qantas Credit Cards are continuing to work well with ATO payments.

Some other cards no longer work with ATO payments, such as Jetstar CC which is also issued by Macquarie.

Can anyone confirm that newly issued cards under Macquaire/Visa are also providing points for ATO payments?

Thanks Buzzard. The question has previously been asked on that thread, but remains unanswered. I will give it a go in case there is new info. Cheers, Steven.

Our 3 cards still work but none of them are new. We use these cards for personal stuff as well as for what you are asking about. Mine probably produces xx_,xx_ points per year and I often have to top it up mid way through a month seeing the credit limit is $25,000. I use auto pay to get the balance (if any) paid on time.

Sorry I can't help much apart from to confirm that Jetstar no longer works.

Trying my WW EDR Plat card now hopefully hasn't changed (but isn't newly issued)

Thanks. Your original card will still work a treat. I Will take a punt on a new account and report back.

Strike that. New accounts only get 1pt per $1 for the first $2,500 per month, then 0.5pts per $1 after that.

There's seriously a 2.5k per month cap on points for new Woolworths Qantas Plat cards? WTF?

Yes, QANTAS website has been updated. We'll see how long it takes for the cards originally issued under HSBC to be 'enhanced'.

Edit: It may be a glitch - QANATS credit card selector site specifies the capping, but woolworths site does not.....or it may be about to change.

Might not matter but my Woolworths Card EDR CC is a MASTERCARD whereas the ones on the Qantas website are VISA.
Maybe MasterCard is going to continue to give 1:1 and VISA has the shandy ??

A similar thread has confirmed the change for existing accounts (masterCard) from March.

I read that there were changes mooted and emailed them. They phoned me a few days later and said the changes happen I n March. It's in the other thread re getting annual cc fees waived.

I have not received anything in the mail ?? how do people know that is happening ??
If so might need to prepay tax ?

I wonder how many MILLIONS of dollars WON'T be paid on Credit Cards if they make it impossible going forward to earn points.
The ATO will still get paid...cheques..BPAY etc but the Credit Card Companies will lose zillions..mmmmm ? I wonder....am I wrong ??

They aren't making it impossible, they are just reducing the earn and/or capping.

Looks to me like most cards simply won't pay anything for ATO and will apply capping.
I ditched my ANZ card years ago for that reason
My point is that a lot of tax gets paid on the credit cards. If people can't get points then they won't use them and the credit card companies will miss out on a heap of revenue IMHO

I imagine that now it is a popular strategy, this isn't profitable spend for issuers which is why they are discouraging it by eliminating/reducing earn rate on it.

They probably correctly assume we will keep the rest of our spend with them or drop off if all we do on that card is ATO.

Hardly a surprise that ATO friendly cards/dividend is dwindling.
