I'm in Santiago at the moment, and Chile has played and won 2 games so far. Each time they have won, the whole town goes completely mad. Tomorrow is their 3rd match, and I'm starting to get nervous about walking from the office to the apartment (especially if they win again) through thousands of crazed Chilenos armed with the local equivalent of the vuvuzela. In fact, I think I might just stay in the office and take photographs from a great height.

But it has started me wondering if any other AFF'ers are in currently in places that take "the world game" seriously, and what the reaction / atmosphere has been like.

(Apologies if I've duplicated another thread - I did a quick search and didn't find anything)

Funny you should mention it, as I’m currently in Barcelona, and they play Chile today. Should be an interesting game, and an interesting time at all the bars around here.

They certainly were fanatical in Granada, putting TV’s outside every restaurant and people in the parks around the restaurants sitting and watching and shouting.

Spain 2 d Chile 1 - and the Chilenos are going crazy because they still go through to the next round - I imagine it sounded something like this when the big earthquake hit. I don't even want to think about what it would be like if they had actually won.

Samh004, how's the mood in Barcelona?
