Has anyone ever managed to successfully change channels?

When I used to regularly travel on the 734's and 733's, by the end of the first trips each month I would be looking for 2 (ABC) as I would have heard everything else I wanted to listen to/see. Hmmm ... is 6 still the Humor channel these days?

Yes, Humour is still channel 6.

I find the radio channel almost unlistenable due to the static and feedback.

My coping mechanism extends to sleeping on the way down (early flight) and a double scotch at the QP before heading home and sleeping then as well.

Try the 717's flying PER-PBO-PER. They have the armrests minus the dials and headphone sockets. :)

Yes but it ain't easy...

The thing I really dislike about them is the volume ain't consistent, and on one channel the volume is so low that you can barely hear it over the sound of the engines, and then the next channel it blasts out so loudly that it makes the engines sound whisper quiet.

I usually set it to channel 5 (billboard) and leave it at that. I usually don't watch the TV's and I have both an iPhone and iPad with movies loaded ready to go if I feel like watching something or listening to something else.

Some of those dials are really worn out. Although some of the 734s have been refurbished, the dial controls have been replaced with digital controls. They have up and down buttons with and led display for the channel number.

I though it was more the case the newer 734's came with the digital setup. You can tell from the roof lights - the older have large rectangular mechanical push buttons, the newer are flat ovals, not touch but close.
