Odd question - looking to take some kitchenware (2 saucepans and a frying pan) on a flight to Cairns to replenish a holiday apartment. Wondering if these would be allowed in carry on luggage?
Of course they aren't specifically identified as disallowed on the Qantas website but might be considered a possible weapon. Would ask Qantas if it didn't require a long wait to talk to someone who probably has no idea.

Not up to Qantas, it's up to the security screening points.

This may help?

They let people take sewing machines onboard! Why not other household goods….

I don't see why not, as long as they're within the allowable dimensions and weight limits - But I doubt the airport security screen for that - that's for the airlines to check.

I've had a hunk of wood rejected at a security screening point due to being a possible "club" type weapon, so I wouldn't rate your chances with the pans. But it may depend on the screening officer on the day. Is there a particular reason you don't want to check your bags? There shouldn't be any current nightmares associated with domestic bag operations these days.
