Is it just me, or am I now getting A LOT more Classic Award flight availability showing up now that I have ticked over to WP?

Congrats on the WP. :)

I'm not, and never have been WP, but there has been plenty of reference here in the past stating that WPs get better availablilty for award seats - guess your example is one more piece of evidence.

I wish what you said is true.

Then again, it may be an illusion to me because I'm looking for premium seats. Some premium seats have popped up that I hadn't seen pre-WP, but I don't know whether this is because of WP (rather than SG) or it's just more inventory being released.

I can almost always find a Y classic award seat on any flight....

Some people say you may need to call QF to see if they can release or search for inventory for you...

WPs do have access to extra award inventory for economy. They also have the ability to "request" seats for all classes on all QF flights (except domestic economy).

Well there you go. It makes sense.

Thanks..

There is an "elite" fare class bucket for awards; in WHY it used to be T. Since T has gone to Y+, it is now a specific "subclass" of X. (For more info, search my posts in this forum using the keyword subclass.)

Congrats on making WP!

I noticed the same thing after becoming WP myself - more availability on certain flights then when we looked online using a different (non-WP) account.

If you make a regular habit of booking award points, you will really enjoy the ability to request otherwise unavailable award seats, especially in the premium classes.

Since I made WP last year I've requested (and received) 2 SYD-LHR Business, 2 SYD-LHR First, 1 SYD-LAX First and 3 SFO-SYD First seats, all for flights within 6 months of the booking where there was no general awards availability in any class (though plenty of paid availability).

If you're sitting on a heap of FF points this is by far the best way to burn through them!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Initial poster congrats on making WP!

Anat0l I guess you noticed this post from Jamesatfish.

Maybe that F to LHR on the A380 could be available.

Another benefit of WP is online check in, regular Qantas member you don't have many seats to choose from, Platinum different story all together.

Almost need some screen shots to show how different it is.
