Hi guys,

I haven't ever needed to fly with JQ in the past, but tomorrow, I have a JQ flight CGK-PER (using the QF number) and I have some questions:

  1. Will I be able to check in online and select my seat 24 hrs out?
  2. Will I be able to take two carry-on bags with me? (I don't check any luggage normally)
  3. Will I be able to access the (partner) lounges at CGK (as a WP flying on a QF flight number)?

Also, non-JQ related questions - my JQ flight into PER gets in at 1:40 am and my flight to MEL departs at 6:10 am - what are your recommendations to spend those hours? PER domestic QP doesn't open until 4:15 am and the dom terminal doesnt open until 4am.

  • Will the Intl terminal be open (I think it's 24 hr) for me to find a quiet spot to sit and (hopefully sleep)?
  • Is there a hotel close to the PER airport that caters for these sort of stopovers? (I don't recall one, the closest I can think of would be the casino...)

thanks in advance!

No. JQ doesn’t offer web-check-in for International flights as yet. If seat selection is important to you, you may log into your booking [if you have a JQ PNR] and select seats, otherwise give them a call. If you are not travelling on a fare where seat section is bundled in as part of the price, then you will have to pay extra for this service if you confirm your selection. [prices range from a few dollars and upwards, depending on what seat you want.] (OT: unlike Qantas OLCI, web-check-in for JQ domestic flights, opens 2 days before the flight.)

Will I be able to take two carry-on bags with me? (I don't check any luggage normally)
You will be able to board with the following bags – a standard Qantas sized wheelie bag not weighing over 10kg + a slim line lap top bag or hand bag + any duty free in a shopping bag that you purchased at the airport.

Will I be able to access the (partner) lounges at CGK (as a WP flying on a QF flight number)?
No, but you can try, you may get lucky. Please don’t post on here if you do. (OT: The only QF partner lounge that officially offers JQ passengers (QP,SG,WP) access is in CHC.)

The International Terminal is usually quite active at that time. Don’t rush off the plane, wander around the small duty free shop before immigration, then stretch your legs landside in the International terminal, maybe have a drink, and it will be time to head over to the domestic terminal before you know it, for a shower and refresh.

Is there a hotel close to the PER airport that caters for these sort of stopovers?
There are motels close by on Great Eastern Highway, but by the time you get there, it’ll almost be time to head back.

.

CGK is an associated lounge and the requirement for access is on a QF flight number, not an operated QF flight , only PVG and Mumbai require QF metal for access, feel free to post here when you get access:

I would be insisting on a lounge invite at check-in as the lounges are very much third party and shared. If JQ won't provide maybe a QF flight leaving around same time??

From 12 months ago you actually have a choice of 2 lounges at the end of the terminal near D Pier - one left, one straight, (the Sing lounge to the right)
Believe the lounge on the left is better - some selection of hot food in the evening and bar service. Also a pay foot massage place near the entry door.

Thanks all, I am CGK now in the lounge and am glad to report that I could get into either lounge - no pass required, Just show my WP card with the JQ boarding pass. I tried the lounge straight ahead last week flying on QF42 to SYD, I was going to try the other lounge today, but they didnt have any drinks at all - busy day apparently and no drinks left, the smaller lounge straight ahead does though and I am enjoying a quiet beer after the worst hotel stay ever last night.

<edit>
While I did have Internet access in the CGK lounge it was so flaky that I couldn't post the message above, so I am really at PER now... waiting for the Inter terminal bus to start running at 4am to get over to the domestic terminal. I hope they accept my WP card as a boarding pass on the bus!!!
