I've booked a First class any-seat-award in P but need to make a change.

Sadly, there is very little availability and certainly none around the dates I want.

Can I request Qantas to release another seat, in the same way I could if it was a classic award?

Failing that.... The booking did say it was fully refundable. Will they refund points, or try to convert it to a dollar amount and issue an e-voucher?

You should get a full refund, I doubt they would release another classic seat to bring the costs down of the FASA that is still available.

Yes you can request a P class to be availed, you may not get one, but they will get back to you in 24 hours. If forward loads are low, you might get lucky .

I requested a U seat on a JASA that was successful - waived the change fee also :p.

Regarding refund, DON'T do it online, call them and request a cancellation - you will get everything back you used - $ and points or any combination of the above used to book originally :D.
