Hi all,

actually sitting in the J lounge at HK airport about to fly back to Sydney.

Have just recently moved to Gold from Silver status around a week to a fortnight ago but my last 2 boarding passes are still saying that I'm QC Silv Oneworld Ruby.

Does anyone know why this would be? is there some lag from you moving status levels to the boarding pass system refreshing? The QF website says my status is gold and it is awarding me the gold bonus points multiplier as well.

any ideas or knowledge would be appreciated.

Nope. Usually the changes in status occur quite quickly and flow through to boarding passes. Check with the staff at the desk & ask them to re-print your boarding passes - see what they show.

I had a similar experience. When I qualified for platinum, (the day before) the next days boarding passes showed gold.

Same as you, online showed platinum and points awarded at 100%.

Will have to wait till next month to see if my new status is updated on my BP's

Maybe its because you were Silver when you attached your FF card to your booking. Try removing your FF number from your booking and attaching it again.
This happened to me (Although not on QF) with my BD card to a LH booking.

I got a free gold membership from a family member, sounds like the same issue.
I have the card, the bag tags, get status bonus, get seated in front of friends on the same flight etc but it says bronze on my boarding pass.

I don't really have an issue with this, because I didn't do anything to deserve my membership.

But when the Qantas staff member behind the business class check-in counter accuses you of using someone else's card or skipping the queue, as might happen to the OP (it happened to me) - and is continually rude after you've justified your presence, it's definitely worth getting fixed.

I find that status generally doesn't update itself, and needs to be reloaded. Other OW airlines such as CX have the same issue. Take the FF out, and put it in again, and the correct status should reload.

Yep, deleting and re-adding the FF number will work. I thought there was a manual/automated process at QF that did this in the background after changing status tiers. Perhaps it doesn't happen.

Unfortunately I don't believe there is anything you can do directly, so either get it corrected on check-in, or call and ask for your bookings to be updated.

Oh, and as experienced - it won't affect crediting of flights etc, but could affect lounge access possibly depending on the lounge and which airline is involved.

Thanks for the info, does make sense.

I can't actually see how you can remove your QFF number from a booking however, when i go to edit my booking there is no way to change the QFF number.

It will actually be a big deal for me as my Qantas Club membership runs out at the end of the month and I have about 6 bookings made on my old silver status so may have issues getting into the lounge and judging on how long they took to mail out my silver QFF card I'm not expecting my gold card to show up fast at all

may have to resort to calling the QFF helpline

Yep, you can't remove it yourself once the FF number is set. (That was my comment "I don't believe there is anything you can do directly," Ring Qantas. They should be able to do it quickly.

If only flying domestic, or only accessing Qantas lounges, don't worry too much. The staff have easy access to your true FF status and can check if required. It could affect operational-upgrade chances (as low as they are!), upgrade waitlists or a welcome on-board if flying International, but I don't know whether that information is refreshed properly or not.

I wen from gold to platinum on 1st June. My bp has only just changed and I have had 5 flights after the change over so it took about 2 weeks to update bp. I asked the question and they said it depends when you booked the flight the status that you had. That was a cough excuse because one flight was booked when i was a nb.

I'm in the same boat - went to platinum a few weeks ago and my boarding passes still show gold, though most things are correct online. All my points are being credited correctly but there are still issues with advance seat selection thinking I'm still a gold member. I have a dozen or so flights booked at the moment on a 737 and I can only select row 11 still where as I think this should be row 6 or 7 now. It's not a drama really as I use the 80 hour rule (to the minute) and score a row 4 window everytime now. I'll contact the helpdesk as well to get them to fix this up. I've only been a member for 7 months or so but never had a drama going from bronze-silver-gold. It was all automatic.

What is the 80-hour rule? Is that the point in time (80 hours before departure) that QF open up "reserved" seating to anyone for pre-selection?

The departure control system window opens 80 hours prior to a flight, at which time the rules change for what seats you can see. Prior to that time, you are limited to seeing whichever zone your status allows. Once it is in the departure control system window, it is documented that normal profile preferences apply to all bookings - in practice this means that the flight seating offered is based on the rules that OLCI would offer.

I went to platinum last week and while I don't have any flights for a few weeks I thought I'd reselect my seats but I still have the same seats available as I did as a gold, so sounds like I have the same issue. Though like you said, not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Glad I'm not the only one though :)

edit: Interestingly enough I can now select preferred seating on my AA flights in August when I couldn't as gold.

For what it's worth, it works in reverse too - I booked flights when I was PS, I've now dropped back to NB but my boarding passes are still showing PS

Rang the Platinum heldesk this afternoon, after being on hold for a whopping 20 seconds, the Qantas fellow on the other end knew exactly about this problem with seat selection and boarding pass status info. After a few minutes he had fixed up all of my upcoming bookings and assures me that my next boarding pass will be correct. In a couple days I'll know soon enough. I have logged into QFF and checked my bookings and seat selections are now correct. This has now allowed me to pick the upper-deck exit row window on the domestic Jumbo next month:D. Seat Guru tells me this is a good seat?

PS. Two thumbs up to the Platinum help desk - so far their service has been awesome on the 3 occasions that I've used them.

Hi Macrop...

I've recently joined the ranks of WP :D and noticed the same issue for every flight i'd taken over a three week period (all of which had all been booked whilst on a lower QFF status).

A helpful staff member in QC was able to delete my QFF number and re-enter it into the booking (she told me it was easy fix which took 10 seconds)...though I experienced the worst CS in my life in the Melb Business lounge with a staff member who refused to help, was extremely rude and effectively told me to get stuffed (appears it was the end of her shift)...I was absolutely dumbfounded staff like her could still be employed and in their Business lounge??

I emailed / spoke with Qantas FF and advised them of the issue which appears to be an IT related glitch...they are going to log a job with their IT department as it is apparently meant to happen automatically but it clearly isn't working as they've noted other QFF members are having similar issues.

I was only concerned as I am getting close to leaving o/s for a round-the-world trip with my wife and we'd like to enjoy the First lounges in AUS/US/Europe/Asia without any issues from lounge staff ;)

Is the Platinum help desk just the regular QFF number? I only ask as I will need to give them a call to get my platinum status added to my existing bookings...fingers crossed my card / tags arrive in the next 6 weeks!

Try 13 12 11 and you'll be on a winner. Good luck.

Cool thanks for those responses guys, I'll call up in the next day or so, have a couple of international flights after my QC membership lapses so want to get my gold status on my tickets.

Just out of interest, what happens if you call platinum help line and you're not platinum?
