You have to love car hiring pricing 5 days cheaper than 3

Was looking at car hire for next weekend with Hertz, 3 Days $155, then selected an extra day, it dropped to $150, added another day and the whole rental dropped to $135. I have seen this often with Europcar as well, where 4-5 day rates seem to be the sweet spot.

I have never been hit with one yet, except for the damage charge three weeks ago I am still waiting a credit on, grrrr.

I've often wondered what happens if you drop the car back early, do you give them a call to say you'll be back early or just rock up?

The cheapest way or us to get to BNE and OOL when we lived in the outer north was to 1 way a car to the airport from Europcar Redcliffe, great for the pocket and great for privilege status!

My understanding was that they would recalculate the rate to the higher rate. Have not tried it though.

Last November I got a cheap Europcar 4 day one-way rental between Adelaide and Melbourne but only needed 3 days.
After drop-off they emailed the adjusted (increased) invoice but I argued that we did the trip faster than we thought.
They then adjusted the price back.
