Hey guys, Just wondering what its been like getting refunds for cancellations or changes beyond your control as a VFF member.

I had lost 4 economy x seats due to plane configuration change. but interestingly there were 3 rows of economy x before the change and there were 3 rows after the change. So why did i lose my seats? And no warning of such till i looked at the boarding passes. I guess they oversell then shift people then hope they cant be bothered getting refund? because their refund process is so intentionally obstructive and time consuming.

Likewise with points, cancellation, lost J seats got put into Y seat. fight for the points refund yourself.

Or am i being too cynical? :)

Sorry rant over.

I actually think VA and QF are pretty good with refunds in the whole. One time I cancelled my VA flight due to schedule changes and they refunded pretty quick, less a small charge for recalculating the remaining sector. I wrote them and the charge was refunded next day.

Nice. How long ago was that? Took them 2 weeks just to send me a template answer saying if I want to refund points I need to call the VFF as they can't help me (gold@velocity... email) when I was asking for cash refund on cash ticket...

Few weeks ago? It was a mess weather wise ex MEL and the flight was so delayed I just decided not to go. They treated it as a voluntary cancellation rather than consumer rights… so charged me difference to reprice as a one way rather than return.

Only $12, but they refunded it after I sent them an email.
