Hello,

Just a short post on behalf of a collegue here at work.

He has 30 days to retain Platinum and requires 400 SC to do so.

Are there any suggestions for Domestic Runs that can be done over the space of a day or two to pickup these points. Home City is Sydney.

Which type of booking, Award/ Anyseat etc, how they are booked do the same status credits apply regardless of seat type and points used.

Appreciate any quick suggestions you can make.

That's a lot of SC for 1 month... how many FF points does your colleague have?

Classic Award seats are a waste of time for SC runs - no points/SC earned.

Your Any Seat Awards (ASAs) are the way to go, you earn points and SC as if it were a fully paid flight. Your best bet is an ASA in business class (JASA) because you get a lot more SC bang for your buck!

However, you may not have seen in the post on here entitled "No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically"

...there are some issues with the ASA booking system right now, or at least that is what everyone is hoping! Currently a JASA is astronomically high in points, making the cost benefit pretty much nada when you bring the points required back to a minimum levell. There are a few threads (to say the least) of people asking about the best SCrun options. From Sydney, I believe there is a Canberra-Hobart (via Syd or Melb) trip that nets you a fair few SCs, but I think you would need to do that in J several times to get your 400.

All comes down to cost, number of points in the bank and the time available. Could always go to Perth via Mel/Bne/Adl on a JASA return, I bet that would rack up a few SCs!

Tell your colleagut to keep checking the booking engine on their FF account (select ASAs though) as we are all hoping that this current problem is only a temporary glitch. :fingers crossed: :-|

At the risk of offending, i'd suggest you do a search for similar topics on here. It seems to be a very common question, and there's a lot of input from people who are very familiar with the best value domestic JASA's and the like to achieve this.

Note that flying that much domestically within 30 days will cost you a lot of points, or a lot of your sanity. Possibly both :)

400 SC's is still 33% off re-qualifying, it's a long way short (only 100 more than attaining gold for the first time). Have they got the 'please explain' letter from QF yet? You can often, if your travel movements in the next 12 months are suitable, be granted a complimentary extension but you only get one. Next year, you have to get the 1200. These letters should be out before the 30 days prior to expiry though.

The other options are to do a run to NAN (once again, do a search) or just drop to gold and then re-qualify for platinum next year via other methods (I'd be doing the latter personally as it's a lot cheaper to keep via other methods).

I had priced up a route for myself that gave me 400SC from BNE for 80,000 points and $300, but I’m not actually going to do it, and not sure it’s still available considering the bugs with ASA’s currently.

It would have been though: BNE-SYD-HBA-SYD-CBR-SYD-HBA-SYD-BNE.

CBR-xSYD-ADL return, twice, in business will give you 400SC for not a lot of flying. Trouble will be finding availability in the next month at an acceptable cost.

SYD-CBR-MEL return in J = 160 status credits
MEL-SIN/BKK return in Starclass = 240 status credits
