Yes! Finally got it. 1405 SC's after a one day trip to Sydney. 1405 SC's thus far all on economy and still about two months to go! Hmmm...

/Jorgen

Congrats!

Doing well to do it all in economy,

That's 70 return journeys at the most, so congrats again!

That's a lot of SCs from 1 day trip to Sydney :) . Enjoy the new card

Jorgen,

Congratulations on achieving Platinum. Sheez all in economy as well.

Only another 700 SC's to get your partner Gold membership now. Another 35 flights in 2 months may be a big call though.

Reggie

Congrats Jorgen, that's quite a lot of flights - do you commute to work on Qantas? I know someone who lived in Adelaide weekends and worked in Sydney each week, all Qantas flights a peak times - courtesy of the Australian taxpayer of course.

Thanks! Got plenty of trips overseas on it, so it's not all local. Made it a bit easier.. but still been a long haul!

"No..nert fer dis mern erf mystery ..ermm ..tell me erbert ther feather deal ergain..?"

...(Jealous, Jealous,Jealous)

LED

P.S: Dublins a wounderful place.. drinks anyone?

Congratulations! I also did it in economy, exclusively in Dash 8s (although QF had a double SC promo late 2001-2002). What you need to do now is to maximise the use of the Plat status by requesting upgrades using points etc. (always wanted to use a Mr Green)

To attain QF WP on economy flights' is a great effort; (are you single? :p ) (Dont answer that ;) )

I maintained QF SG for 4 years almost exclusivly on discount WHY flights and it was quite a challenge just to do that ... I considered QF WP for me was improbable at best.

I thought improbable once, but actually did achieve it. :) This year I'll probably fall a bit short of renewing.

With three weeks and two trips left before the SC counter resets back to zero, I've racked up 2660 SC's this year - all domestic economy. I'm obviously doing something right (wrong?)

I'd be in a better position if my class of travel didn't start with the letters N,O or S so often :)

Yeah, travelling on Flexi something domestically ensures you only need half the flights than with Discount Economy (red e-deal, Super Saver).

Would it be better if your class of travel started with a letter V sometimes?

Only if domestic is australian domestic. Even very high fares are discount economy for domestic flights in new zealand

Welcome to Platinum. However, compared to Gold, the benefits aren't all that exciting. I don't see any benefit on domestic flights, as there normally isn't a separate 1st class lounge. It does allow you to use the lounge at any time whether you are flying or not, but who's ever hanging around an airport feeling thirsty when they're not flying. One significant benefit - if you're flying a different airline you can still use the lounge (with one guest, though they sometimes stretch this if they're not too busy).

International you get to use the 1st class lounge if they have one. If in LA you have to go back to the business lounge if you want to use the internet - can't understand this.

Of course you go to the top of the list if they're giving away upgrades - nice on a long haul to get a 1st class ticket. If you're like me and often change flight times at the last minute, you get priority waitlisting, which is very useful.

One perk that would be very nice - why can't they introduce priority customs clearance for 1st class/platinum? The long queues are often the biggest burden after checking in. Sydney used to have this a few years ago, but dropped it.

Anyway, I hope you get to enjoy some of the benefits after all your time sitting in airline seats. I'd be interested to know how you like it.
