Just wondering if everyone else now travels with a selection of zip lock bags since the LAG rules came in. I now seem to travel with many many zip locks - there is one for LAGs in flight, one for LAGs collected on the trip that are going in checked luggage, one for cotton buds, one for my razor (having sliced my fingers open this is now a must), one for the electric toothbrush, one for each currency on the trip so I can stow for future use - and the list goes on.

Am I alone in this obsession?

My bag has actually been taken over by J/F amenity kit bags. They're quite handy for organising stuff. Cables/chargers, etc.

My bag resembles these remarks. ;)

Defintely not. I too put numerous things in zip lock bags. Last time I was in the USA I bought a great selection of "proper" zip locks - american ones still have the zip slider bags as opposed to the aussies ones that you have to press together.

My best tip - store your pashminas in zip lock baggies - then they dont get snagged by anything in your luggage or handbag.

I use them all the time. If for no other reason to protect the other stuff in my luggage

Pashminas? :p

I also have the ziplock bag addiction that cannot be tamed. Alas with only Y flying I have not the J/F amenity resources at my disposal so I make do.

+1 here for the amenity kits, very useful for storing things like toiletries, medications, cables etc.

With my minimalist luggage flying, my bag is usually full of vacuum zip lock bags (as shown in previous thread) with the outer pockets becoming storage for other items. I don't use the amenity kit bags anymore as I find they take up too much room.

Thanks for the tip (buying bags in the US, not the pashmina).

I'll duck out now and see what I can get. Despite the fact that it's Good Friday, everything is open here in Chicago. Whatever happened to the religious right?

Walmart sell THE BEST ziplock travel bags IMHO available. You will find them on the shelves near the Jeep luggage... they are awesome with a vent valve - meaning, if you wish to use the bag as a vacuum bag to reduce size you can easily.

I, too, love those American bags with the 'real' zip. They are so much easier to close and come in lots of different sizes.
