Hi guys.

I'm looking at booking a PER-(SIN)-LHR-NRT-PER flight for the end of the year
Leaving Perth on Nov 24, London on 14th Jan and Toyko on 5th Feb.

Qantas over the phone have told me $2543 (plus CC charge i presume), can't seem to get it on the website.
Zuji.com.au is only $2472 with no booking fee, so it's actually cheaper.

I think i need to book tonight to beat the price rise coming through, so does anyone have any comments (esp on zuji vs QF for the booking), or ways to get a better fare?

Is there any disadvantage to booking via Zuji in this case, for someone with no status on QF?

Thanks, Jon

I am not sure what your issue is Zuji, of they are cheaper then go for it, they are owned by Sabre so there should be no issues.

Can't help with your initial questions.

But have you tried Expedia, they can sometimes be cheap as well.

Just had a quick look and they come out at $2458.12 inclusive.

I don't know how Zuji work, but the only issue I can think of is that the cancellation/change fees may be greater on Zuji than with the actual airline itself.

That would be something you may need to check up yourself.

Ok, i'll probably go with expedia. shouldn't need to cnacel, but will have insurance so that will hopfully cover the few events where cancellation may be required.

Was not worried about booking with zuji/wholesaler per se, just wondered if there are htings yoyu miss out on- with hotels you may not get points/stay credits etc.

Thanks.

Cannot help with the Zuji issue.

I recently booked a whole lot (10+) of room nights with a major hotel chain on Wotif for a fraction of the direct with the property price. I had to book an extra night direct and when I asked for the bookings to be linked, the hotel CSA had me acknowledge that I had been informed that bookings with wholesalers etc do not accrue points!

In the event I got the credits anyway!

Good luck!

Is there a way of finding out the fare buckets you will be booking into?

If it is a fare bucket eligible under the QFF Earning table, I don't see that you would not get the SC's and points.

Don't quote me, but I would imagine that is how it would work.

Ive booked a few LHR return trips through Zuji and others and to date have found that when the ticket prices are close to QF's website that SC and points are paid (you can phone them to confirm which class of ticket your getting before purchasing).

I had one flight with JAL last year with a stop over in NRT which was a hoot, but given that i got it at $1,300 when QF was $1,800 it was no surprise when i got no SC and points.

The stopover was worth it just to experience the lightening speed of Japanese internet.

If you are flying under a QF flight number you will get the points and SCs when booking public fares online, the only exceptions are industry staff tickets, prize travel and award bookings, none of which would be booked via Zuji AFAIK.

Thanks guys, confirmed what i thought.

Booked the tickets on Expedia for 2458 or something like that for my GF. Now if anyone is travelling those days/flights, want to guest her into the lounge? :)
