Travel insurance for 88 days/age of relatives covered

Hi,

I have some complex travel insurance dilemmas/queries. I would appreciate if anyone has any advice at all on any of my questions below:

I am having difficulties finding a comprehensive wordlwide (USA) travel policy that covers me for 88 days as well as for the potential illness of a relative in Australia aged 94.

I am contemplating getting the QBE/QANTAS Annual trip insurance for $296 which covers up to 60 days and then getting an additional one for a month but it still seems pricey (currently stand alone for the almost 3 months is about ~700).

Alternatively, would it be possible to sneakily be covered under the above annual insurance for the first 60 days and then be covered for the last 30 days on another traveller from my party's annual policy??

Additionally, I read in a previous post that the same QBE/QANTAS insurance did not cover someone aged over 80. In reading the PDS I could only find an age limit on relatives covered with pre-existing conditions (of 80) but when relatives is defined in the glossary there is no age limit. Can someone clarify? Being old is not a pre-existing condition right? Otherwise can anyone recommend companies that do not stipulate an age limit?

Finally, can anyone recommend a company for the same trip but for someone who is staying 95 days (this is for my mother).

I recently researched this.if under 60 this was one I came up with-

Over 60 a real problem.

I had a look at them and unfortunately they have an age limit of 85 for relatives covered and you are right over 60 would be a problem for my mother but oko for me..
I am wondering whether I might have to go through an insurance brooker? Does anyone know any good oneS?

As I've previously suggested to some people have a look at Defence Health as their cover is both affordable and comprehensive. (90 days incl USA cover is $479) but like many it times out at 85 years of age. It can be used above 90 days but there is quite a hike at the 90 day point. You do not have to be a member of Defence Health to use this.

Bill i did look at Defence health but their Annual Multi trip PDS says a 45 day limit on any one trip which can not be extended.Also extra to cover your spouse unlike most others.But yes i can get it until age 69 making it better than nearly every other plan.

... and there is another tab to use for ages 70 - 85.

I did a 90 day trip to UK for a friend today and it was $326 but 91 days went up by about $52.

Thanks re the 45 day limit for Multi trips as I was not aware of that. (I personally use my Amex Plat Charge card insurance)

OT but it was interesting that I could get her flights and insurance for about $500 less than the travel agent offered. Initially about $300 better off but then the Etihad sale helped with the rest. It was actually slightly cheaper through V Australia than Etihad direct.

You can try insurance brokers and by using google to search for the best one. Just inquire first about your insurance needs before pursuing their service. hope it helps.
