it is worrying - looks like primarily a push to minimise elite benefits for those in the Y cabin a la SQ PPS

I just hope this doesn't have any effect on OWE benefits!

Maybe they'll configure the standard programme Asia Miles so it only gives the bare minimum oneworld rewards for certain tiers. The Marco Polo Club - the "SQ PPS" equivalent - will give more unique benefits but that will be based on spend on CX and KA, possibly limited only to flexi Y and above.

As it stands right now, those on the cheapest CX Y tickets earn nix anyway.

The CX MPC thread on Flyertalk seems much calmer than what people would suggest would be a storm, but then no one has seen the final programme yet. Some are actually happy if the new programme will firmly discriminate on valued flyers. Apparently overcrowding of the HKG lounges is a manic problem, as is the exclusivity of the CX First Class sections.

This seems infinitely worse than Qantas's FF changes last year from the outset for current CX MPC members if it goes ahead?
Simpler fairer on steroi_s! No earning on OW or partner airlines via Marco Polo club proposed.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere.

It seems like they are trying to turn MPC into something like QF P1 and CL, while Asia Miles becomes closer to the current MPC.

Why is it that airlines consider the future lies in crushing their most loyal customers? If the equivalent happened in the general business world, there wouldn't be too many businesses left.

Anytime someone knocks QFF just point to Marco Polo as a comparison offering.

Asia Miles still has better burn rates and taxes compared to QFF

What is also not clear is as MPC is slated to not earn on OW airlines, does that mean one will have to have an asia miles account as well and swap between accounts depending whether flying on OW or CX?

I thought you kind of needed both in the first place anyway.

AsiaMiles was for the points redemption side of things (earn and burn), whereas Marco Polo Club was the status side of things.

The way I kind of understand what is going to happen is that the basic status components will also be handed to AsiaMiles, whereas MPC will become like SQ PPS and will offer more exclusive benefits. Like SQ PPS, MPC will only count specific flights, which must be on CX or KA.

I've never had an account with CX so wasn't sure how it works, at least with SQ you only need one account and PPS is just another level of attainment with different criteria.
