Qantas near record profit

This is excellent news for Qantas shareholders and staff who will share in the profit. So I guess now the outrageous fees for award points international travel will be reduced to the CX standard.

Whilst lower than last year still a good result but what has delivered the profit?

Lower Fuel Prices?

Better Aircraft utilisation?

Higher Domestic air fares?

Growth in Asia?

What are your thoughts?

The Qantas turnaround is complete

QAN has 12 A380s that should have been marked to market. The value of an A380 has slumped seeing it isn't holding its value.

That's right, also they haven't been spending on replacement aircraft, if they can do that for a couple of years the profit will look great. But at some stage it will slow down then they order some more planes for several years and then hopefully climb again.

I haven't checked how QF have the A380s in their books. Would be a good question to ask at the AGM as they might be sitting on a pretty big write down.
I am staying in the QAN shares while their fuel costs stay low.
