QF should have got into the spirit of the occasion with QF1915 or similar.

Edit . Oops brain in neutral, first day back at work

It's very tempting to book this flight. Not that I have any intention of attending the Gallipoli commemorations, but I have friends in Istanbul whom I've not seen for many years. When I've looked before, it's been SYD-LHR, then back to IST. Since the Emirates link-up, there is a service x Dubai to IST then IST-LHR via BA.

Bugger! Leaving it a little late in proceedings to book now - we booked our flights 8 months ago.

We're just going to have to suck it up and try and enjoy those FASA on QF1/2 :D See you in Istanbul...

Would have jumped at the opportunity to go to IST with QF (un-related to Gallipoli), but unfortunately am in the middle of the Ecuadorian rain forest on departure dates :-|

I wonder what the plane will be doing for the 6 days until the return. Surely not just sitting on the ground at SAW?

Nice routing I'll bet JB is highly amused at his proposed long haul approach to Europe being put into action for this one off

Could the plane not have completed the journey non-stop SYD-SAW?
