What are they offering menu wise (complimentary) there in the Flagship lounge, as I remember last time I was there it was very basic, do they have any hot stuff?Sitting in the flagship lounge at LAX, awaiting my first flight to DFW. Live update trip report as you go??
Yeah can do. The first class lounge is almost empty, its very quiet here... Food wise, not much at all... I was here a year ago and it was the same then... There is heaps of booze and snacks, so I'm quite happy. It is 1120PM here and my next flight is at 110AM. My next leg is LAX-DFW-IAD, where I will spend the night and hopefully have enough time to hire a car and see some sights!
I flew in from BNE/SYD this morning at 1030am on VA. I used points for a Y ticket, thankfully I was upgraded to Y+ at the gate.
In respect to travelling on AA, as a QF WP you have entry rights to any open AA A/C or F/L you can physically access at the departure airport for your AA flight on the day of departure.
That's AA flight number on AA or (otherwise) oneworld metal and for a QF WP there's no difference between being on an 'international' or a 'domestic' AA flight.
This was my experience also at ORD recently, the angels went to great lengths to explain that I did not need to slum it in the A/C lounge when I was WP and gave me directions to the Flagship Lounge at ORD. Also the same at LAX, handed me the white card to swipe the door open to the FL. As Fiona has already stated, it is far easier if you have your WP card. The AAngels are fantastic, so much so that they will direct you to the Flagship lounge if you want to go into the ordinary AC, had this exact experience at JFK. I only had a short time between flights and couldn't be bothered walking to the Flagship Lounge at Gate 16.
The only caveat is you should always carry and be prepared show the WP card with your AA BP as KUPP fares without non-AA OWE don't get access to the Flagship Lounges
If you are going through MIA, make sure that you try the lounge in terminal E, takes a little effort to get there so you need to be organised in advance if you have a short stop over, but far better than the other A/C lounges at MIASitting in the flagship lounge at LAX, awaiting my first flight to DFW. Next stop is Miami where I have a 9 hour layover.. just enough time to hire a mustang and take a quick drive down the the Keys! I will visit the OW lounge later tonight and I'll report in then.
Wow - that's one long drive if you are going all the way to Key West. You'll certainly be pressed for time.
We did the drive last year but stayed overnight.
I'm hoping to try out the OW Miami lounge next month.
This is what I thought initially, but since then there have been many times when I have flown with AA directly over the western end of Cuba. Usually I am in and out of MIA within a couple of hours, next time, I will look for a few hours stay at MIA, never thought of renting a car for the day to visit Keys, sounds like a good idea. The flight down was interesting, no direct flight to PTY, aa had to make a dog leg to get around cuba's airspace!.
