Having received a .5 status bonus offer before Christmas, and then the booking of a flight after that offer (for once the timing was right!) it occurred to me I was very close to achieving Gold again with Qantas. I'd been Gold before but only dragged there with MrP's extensive travel for a couple of years saw me get the partner offer. Sadly at the time I did not really know what Gold meant. What a waste.
Fast forward seven years and after three or so years on this forum, I finally saw the light. And creative booking saw MrP back to WP where he belongs, just a couple of hundred points shy of LTG, and me rightfully ascending to SG again. In my own right.
This afternoon we jet off to Sydney and then tomorrow morning, Sydney to Auckland. Why the split trip? Well, we must experience, well, I must experience, the Sydney F lounge and our original connecting flight from Adelaide left just 60 minutes to transfer, go through immigration, and experience the lounge! Not good enough - change the ticket. Done!
So we will have a quiet weekend in the Bay of Islands, then down to Auckland. Looking forward to seeing QM2 berthed in the Bay of Islands. My first time to NZ, so looking forward to an explore of Auckland while MrP does his work with the client. But in the age of Equality, I seem to have been loaded up with work appointments as well. Only half days on two days but really, with travel etc, might just as well be whole days and be done with it. So as my appointments are computer based learning, also bringing the laptop. The joys of business travel. And MrP thinks it is only right!
But what I am really looking forward to is the flight home - on F, Emirates the A380. And halfway back I return to Gold.
I think I might have a shower to celebrate at that point. . After the Dom of course, which is preceeded by a nice sojourn in the Emirates lounge. Getting there early to avoid the mad crush later.
So, on a 3.50 minute flight, I am thinking an hour out of Brisbane should allow the consumption of a nice meal (sadly no caviar on this leg); Dom, of course, and then I need to "freshen" up.
Even JuniorP who thinks having a shower on a plane is a little, um, wanky, says I need to try it. I shall. Photos of course. Carefully staged. Watch out for those tricky mirrors!!!!!
Then I have to get from Brisbane to Adelaide. Why fly direct when you can connect? Brisbane - Melbourne - Adelaide. The joys of living in Adelaide.
